beginner_biker Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Hi all,Can anyone tell me how much life is left in my sprocket? Chain is tensioned right with plenty of room to stretch but I'm going to replace it when the sprockets are replaced.http://i.imgur.com/M2r7FaH.jpgAlso, I know my model of CG125 (2005) originally came with an o-ring chain, but I was wondering whether a loobman and bog-standard chain would be just as good for running about on.Cheers Quote
fastbob Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Honestly mate, none . That's close to being scrap.here you go £26.35 from Wemoto.http://i.imgur.com/LlGNqkp.png might not be your year and model but I just thought you would be interested to know roughly how much it might cost.its hardly worth trying to save money at this level. beginner_biker Posted August 24, 2017 Author Posted August 24, 2017 Thought it might be.Seems the o-ring chain is 60 quid or so vs 20 or so for a heavy duty non o-ring. Is there much benefit to an o-ring chain if I've got a chain oiler anyway? Quote
Snod Blatter Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Yes there is. Partly because the seals keep water and grit out of the moving bits, and partly because O or X ring chains just seem to be made to a higher standard with harder steel. It is worth paying the extra. Quote
fastbob Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 On the down side, O ring chains can often APPEAR to last longer because the little rubber rings make the chain quiet and disguise the fact that it was shagged out ages ago. Quote
