david16 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I recently bought my first bike (Honda CBR125 2016) and I'm planning to change the engine oil in it.Do I need to change the filter as well?If yes how can I do that and where can I purchase the right filter? Quote
Stu Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 There's no harm in changing itTry your local Honda dealer for supplies Quote
raesewell Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Halfords have a limited range of motorcycle oil filters, you might be lucky Quote
JRH Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Could also look here.http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/cbr_125_r/16/ Quote
Tango Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Yeah, I'd change it whilst doing the oil change........do a search on eBay to find a suitable filter......but try to stick to OEM or a reputable make..... Quote
oldgrump Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Hi, There's no oil filter fitted to the CBR125R, just a oil screen which is stupidly fitted under the r/h clutch cover, so if you need to clean/or replace you have to get a clutch cover gasket as well!!Normally the screen stays quite clean if oil has been changed regular. And as a 2016 model has it done loads of miles? Honda say's clean every 8,000 miles. And yes Castrol Coolant would be fine, if draining complete system. Quote
Westbeef Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 What he said ^^^^Just a little strainer you can clean, it’s a really easy job and it doesn’t need doing with every oil change. You don’t tend to replace them just give them a good clean. If you do it, make sure you scrape all the old gasket off fully or you could get leaks. Quote
fastbob Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Or if you're lucky the clutch cover might come away leaving the gasket intact . Be careful not to lose any locating dowels . Quote
Guest Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 If you do fit a new gasket, a smear of grease will ensure that it comes away cleanly the next time you remove the cover, enabling its re-use. Quote
