Slowlycatchymonkey Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 perhaps he's a rally driver I'm a BMW driver so, similar - yeah. Crikey don’t tell Hoggs, you’ll never hear the end of it! Quote
learningtofly Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Well, the cat's well and truly out of the bag now, Geoff! That's a beautiful helmet, by the way (I say, Vicar )! Quote
geofferz Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 Well, the cat's well and truly out of the bag now, Geoff! That's a beautiful helmet, by the way (I say, Vicar )! What that I drive a BMW?! 3 series too - the ultimate twatmobile. Or that the missus knows now - we're a bit poor at the mo and she's not best pleased. She says they look the same - ridiculous The Bell is massive!! Front on at least. And it weighs only 4g less than the plastic hjc - I'm sure the carbon fiber has other benefits though. No drop down visor, open or closed shield only (hjc ratchets solidly in about 5 positions) no pinlock smoked visor, the eyeglass grooves are very high up (though I think I'll get used to it)... But it has a cool bell logo on and it looks awesome from the side... I haven't ridden my bike for weeks cos its too bloody cold. Maybe I'll appreciate it more then, but currently 1) I'm glad I didn't pay £600 for it and 2) the thrill of the hunt is always more fun than the kill! And the hjc is a damn fine lid - especially for £110. The visor change mechanism is slick AF though - just push a button. I can do it in 11 seconds. Quote
learningtofly Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Bell helmets are the coolest going, but sadly they just don't ft me very well. Was out for a couple of hours today - even with thick gloves and heated grips it felt like I had frostbite on my fingers Quote

They all seem to fit me just fine :shrug:Yeah it's the hands - everything else is fine. So damn cold! Come on summer! Quote
geofferz Posted December 16, 2018 Author Posted December 16, 2018 Went for a quick ride to keep my battery charged; this lid is good! Amazing field of vision, slicker shoulder checks due to cutaway base, quiet compared to my hjc, doesn't ride up at high speeds. Happy camper. Fitted my first pinlock too! Got a dog hair stuck in between managed to get it out Still a couple of specs sandwiched but better than a dog hair. Quote
geofferz Posted August 30, 2019 Author Posted August 30, 2019 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/311727£97 for a gold visor?! Someone's taking the piss. What air bubbles? Quote
dynax Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Was thinking doing similar but on the helmet and vinyl wrapping it in a metallic copper/bronze Quote
geofferz Posted August 30, 2019 Author Posted August 30, 2019 Was thinking doing similar but on the helmet and vinyl wrapping it in a metallic copper/bronze I've never wrapped anything before but it's hard! And this is one-way mirrored designed for windows etc so only sticks on the inside which has pinlock tabs and fitting tabs so it's... Even harder. Quote
dynax Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Just be careful, there seems to be some confusion of the legality on mirrored visors, keep a clear one with you just in case you get pulled Quote
raesewell Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Maybe someone can educate me and tell what is the point of mirrored visors? Quote
Bender Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Maybe someone can educate me and tell what is the point of mirrored visors? Cause it looks good? Quote
geofferz Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Only annoying thing is that there is no cutouts for speakers. Indeed not. And unlike on my Hjc which also has no cutouts but I can still fit the speakers behind the pads, the Bell is too tight for that, and you can't cut away the eps foam as there's a plastic slab. Now that I'm a comms user the lid has now been sold. Quote
