newbiker90 Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Hi all, does anyone know any good textile waterproof jacket/trousers with built in armour, especially spinal protection? I have been looking around with no luck Quote
Gerontious Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Back protectors are usually bought separately.... Not always, but it's fairly normal. Even high end gear like Rukka.. Doesn't place much emphasis on the spine.. They concentrate more on the usual impact points. Shoulders, elbows, thighs and knees. But there will 99/100 be a ready made space for a back protector... Or you can wear it separately under the jacket if you choose. Quote
Guest Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I tend to use a Knox armoured shirt and take armour out of the jackets. More comfortable and the armour is held nicely in place rather than flapping around like it does in many bike jackets. Quote
mikestrivens Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 All jackets and trousers specifically for motorcycles must have a minimum of CE approved protection. This can be supplemented with additional or better protection. Have a look at J&S or sports bike shop web sites. Quote
learningtofly Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Have a look at the Revit Horizon 2 at Sportsbikeshop. I’ve recently bought the jacket and trousers and added the level 2 back protector - it’s great kit. Quote
JRH Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Check out RST. The pro jackets have back protectors fitted. Quote
manxie49 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I have RUKKA which is spot on, good fit, keeps me dry and warm and the armour Is massive, in all the right places as well, I upgraded the back protecter to a level 2, the down side was I had to nearly kill myself with overtime to afford them, it was that or sell the wife! At the end of the day you get what you pay for and after being out in some horrendous rain I can vouch for the fact that RUKKA really does meet all expectations Quote
Magpie84 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I'm a fan of Richa, mine have kept me dry even in torrential rain. They cost a pretty penny but have even survived my little off at the start of December. Quote

Tango Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Most of my jackets have a foam back protector fitted to them........and all have shoulder and elbow armour. Finding a truly waterproof set of textiles?...now, that's a challenge..... Quote
