Code Error for Yamaha YBR 125 (2009)

Hello! So I’ve just got my new YBR 125 a couple of days ago and it’s a bit different to my previous one. On the ignition there is an engine light (Amber/Brown coloured). I’m already having issues with it, as soon as I click into first gear, the engine light flashes 4 times quickly and then cuts out. I called a Yamaha technical person and he has said that it’s not code and it’s probably a side stand switch or something. ANYWAYS, I was wondering if any of you could tell me how you read the code? I have a list of what each code means but I’m not sure how to read the code from the flashes, just for the future! Thanks :)

We had to do this when Magpie84 had some issues with her YBR. This post covers it:

http://ybr125owner.blogspot.com/2014/06/yamaha-ybr-125-fault-codes.html (scroll down to "Codes are all 2 digit numbers , the first number will be read by long flashes of the light , the second number of the code with be in short flashes of the light)

Needless to say, if you bought the bike from a dealer keep a contemporaneous record of faults reported to them and take the bike back. They usually have a limited warranty and some will try to fob you off until the warranty has expired. A contemporaneous record can show you reported a problem within the warranty period.
