collins82002 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Evening allI may have the dreaded cracked liner issue with my R6. Does anyone know of any companies that will do a resleeve and costs if possible? Quote
Snod Blatter Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 SEP in Kegworth might be worth a go, but when I used them in 2013 they took forever to rebuild my crank. I mean it was months. I eventually gave up ringing them and started turning up to ask what was going on.I think your question may be better answered on a more specialist forum though, they could point you to someone who has done this before and knows exactly what is involved. fastbob Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 No personal experience but this outfit seem to know their stuff.https://www.hthoward.co.uk/cylinder-liners/ Quote
fastbob Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Am I correct in the belief that your cylinders are an integral part of your upper crankcase requiring a total engine split before any machining can be carried out ? EDIT..Yep Quote
Snod Blatter Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 It is a massive job, and the liners are "wet" meaning the water runs around the outside of them (Have a look here). This is not a job for just anyone who resleeves motors, this is Serious Business. Quote
Justarn Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 There's a few engines on eBay circa 7-800, probably your best bet in reality. Quote

My thoughts as well , get one with a guarantee if possible because I'm assuming there are loads out there that also have cracked liners ! I only found two 5EB ones on eBay but quite a lot of other models. No idea about compatibly. Quote
fastbob Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 So why do these things crack and what have Yamaha got to say about it ? Quote
Bender Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 There's a company in New Zealand repairs them. You just need a company that can machine them out, fit new ones, deck the block, and rebuild so in the short term probably cheaper getting another block and then another bike. Quote
