fastbob Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Hi all,Can anyone recommend anything to remove or improve salt stained wheels? Can you show us exactly what you mean please? Quote
raesewell Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 It depends a lot on what the wheels are made of or coated with. Quote
jw5876 Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 They're alloys and they look like they have little white mark's on them. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 I suspect those white bits are corrosion rather than salt. Alloy produces white deposits where the paint / lacquer is pitted. Quote
jw5876 Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 If it is corrosion is there anything I can do? Quote
BIKERDAD Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 I got that on my front forks I just use a wire wool to clean it off . I'm going to have them painted one day . . Quote
fastbob Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 I'll go with that , fine wire wool used very gently then maybe a good bit of wax based polish to disguise the damage. Without seeing it , its hard to know what will work best . EDIT... Your wheels look like lacquered polished alloy so it is probable that salt and moisture has found its way through any minute pinholes and the rot has begun . Quote
