Recommend me a tracker

As the tittle suggests, I’m after a tracker and hopefully it’ll bring my insurance down too.

I bought this one for the van:

£12.89 it's small enough to hide somewhere and it doesn't need a clear view of the sky, it works very accurately under the van bonnet.

You download a map app like Google Maps and you can see it's last location on that even if it's powered down.

Which is handy because it uses about 30ma continuously. That's not too bad on big van battery but really bad for a bike battery so I made a timer to power it down 10 minutes after the ignition goes off.

The tracker is set to send it's position every 5 munutes (you can text it instructions to change this if you want) so if you just power it off with ignition the bike could be parked anywhere up to a 5 minute ride radius away. Hence the timer, it stays on long enough to update it's parked position then powers off

Some of my mates and work mates have bought one and they all work great. You put an O2 standard sim in them with 10 quid on it and it will last years (1Mb=1p)

These look alright......self contained so no battery drain and give you an alarm call if the bike is disturbed....

Interested to know if anyone has any personal experience of this device as it sounds pretty good and I may consider it myself.

I pay £360 for biketrac + £100 annually.

They ring me whenever they detect the bike being tampered with and its tracked via GPS and RF.

If stolen and GPS signal is lost they go around in a van to pinpoint location using RF and work with police.

That's identical to the 20quid tracker from eBay but with a sticker and a huge price tag.

I bought one a few years ago and was impressed with them.

Still got it in my box of stuff somewhere. Must dig it out and Make use of it.
