  1. Maybe my license plate number spooked them off. Saw that it was 16 years old and was like nah. lol
  2. not sure they got a good look at it. I have my cover tied down (due to cross winds) so they may not have seen how worthless and beat-up it is.
  3. Around 3pm today, 3 guys pulled up in a small white van wearing masks. One got out and lifted up my bike cover to expose the rear wheel and the motorbike security chain around it. At that moment they fled. Wasn't sure if it was because of the chain or because they saw me reacting through the living room window. I've since placed a spare portable motion detector alarm on the bike seat under the bike cover. Do you think they will come back to finish the job?
  4. About a month ago, an old lady knocked my parked motorbike over with her car. She was going maybe 2mph, so it was a gentle push, but I notice damage on the fairing which I'm getting repaired later. The bike also seemed fine when I rode it around the block once at around 20mph. Anyways, my concern is when this lock down is over, and i have to go back on the motorway. Could there be some unseen damage caused by the bike falling over, which might make the motorbike unsafe to ride? I don't fancy coming off at 70mph. Are there particular areas of the motorbike which I should inspect further or get my mechanic to focus on?
  5. Just to provide an update: So the putty job I did kept me going leak-free for around 9 months. it wasn't quite as professional as fastbob's fix (see pic comparison below) but it worked. In the end, I replaced the radiator with a Chinese one for £80 instead of forking out hundreds for a Honda one. My local mechanic had to do some tinkering to get it to fit, but it works a treat. I decided to replace it because it started to leak again, but this time from the cross pipe just above the one I cut out, due to corrosion on the backside of the pipe. I was gonna cut it out and do the same repair job but my mechanic said these Chinese radiators last a long time in his experience. my fix fastbob's fix
  6. some good points Winston. Its quite beat up honestly, and some of the plastic is missing. I guess ill have to live with it until something affordable appears on Ebay.
  7. I work for an insurance company and they change their risk values all the time, so something which may have given you a 15% discount might now give a 0% discount. They have to find a balance between reducing their exposure, maximising profits and customer retention. However, if you ring up, the operator has discretion to offer a discount, so just asked for your 15% discount or you will leave.
  8. Bike: CBF600 2006 Can't find anyone who is selling side fairing. I found one below but they want £267.41 - waay too expensive. https://www.lingshondaparts.com/partscatalog/catalog/listing/catalog/hondamc/catkey/A/modelid/249/modelname/CBF600SA6/block/17MER601/blockref/F__3300/blockname/COWL+%28CBF600S6%2FSA6%29/ How about from China?
  9. I turn the motorbike on to drive home from work. These two small lights (size of my finger tip) turn on but the big headlight nor the beam light come on. The headlight should always be on. Ill then ride the bike for 10minutes then switch bike off and on again and the headlight works including the beam. Any ideas what the issue is please?
  10. sounds like a targetted attack where they had foreknowledge of your bike location. I presume it was out of sight from public road? if so, 100% neighbough
  11. you just hold in the clutch when approaching microphone...whats the problem?
  12. Im getting the sense moving into second lane in advance is the way to go
  13. When i did my cbt, my instructor was adamant about " owning your lane", basically meaning to keep central as much as possible, on my second ride on my own bike, i had some twat up my arse, so i slowed down and held him back, always checking my mirrors to see what he was doing, then when he backed off, i resumed normal speed , i won't allow anyone to try and intimidate me, and if i did get a nudge i'll just leave it there To be honest this isnt smart. Brake checking someone can cause serious incident or even a gradual slowdown can cause them to get frustrated. Last thing you want is an emotional driver behind you.
  14. Im essentially developing a driving pattern for motorways and im making mental notes of pitfulls. Another situation is a particular dual carriage way with 50mph limit but EVERYONE goes through at 70mph. Ive actually found its safer to drive at 60mph and thus breaking the law than at 50mph because there has been multiple instances of people almost rear ending me when i do the speed limit. Another example of breaking the rules to be safer...
  15. I was waiting for someone to say this. Yes both incidents are somewhat linked. After that first incident i decided im just gonna stay in the left lane from now on. Im never in a rush anyways. This is why i didnt move into second lane but at the same time i was experimenting with driving at a continous speed and not giving way to slip road. I like to test things then adjust. My take away from this is to always be curtious if safe to do so (i.e. slow down). But i still dont think i should change lanes.
  16. The trouble with court is you don't know what way it will go ... and if it does go wrong your fine and points will be more especially if get a judge that is anti biker. I understand your view point, and i think thats why most people just give in, especially if they are actually guilty of the crime and looking to get off on a technicality.
  17. oh wow! very interesting viewpoints. This thread is turning out more interesting than i expected. To clarify a question asked, yes I had room to move into lane 2. I find the comment made about my decision being a bit twaty to be an interesting viewpoint (i take no offence), and I supect this is how the van driver felt. So its as if there are these unspoken cultural rules we should adhere too instead of the highway code
  18. Without proof it wouldnt hold up in court. In this situations its best to deny the charge, remain silent and then deny it again if it went to court. Without proof the case would get thrown out. tbh mate it wouldnt even make it to court unless you blapped away and trapped yourself into a confession or gave circumstancual evidence.
  19. Oh and yeah, later when he overtook me, he waves me off as if i did something wrong....
