Insurance Renewal

So be aware that if you insured with Bennetts and go out of the UK for more than 90 days their interpretation is you will have no insurance cover whatsoever till you are back on UK soil

That is absolutely normal.. lets face it more than 3 months at a stretch is rather longer than a 'holiday' which is what this cover is for. if you are going to be out of the Uk in euroland for longer than 3 months then you will be looking at a fairly 'specialised' policy because you are not on holiday.. you have relocated albeit temporarily. Which could mean you have to insure it locally. (seems likely to me)

one of my biggest regrets at leaving CN when i bought the Africa Twin was losing their euro cover. again its for 90 days but they match the level of insurance you have in the UK. TPF&T or Fully comprehensive. plus they give you Roadside assistance and recovery, vehicle repatriation, storage, onward travel and accommodation, replacement rider, message service and parts delivery.

That beats just about everyone else.

FWIW.. the one time i had to use their services when in Austria, at no point did they ask me when I had travelled.

of course.. there is nothing to stop you going to euroland multiple times and so the total is over 90 days. how would they know?

My “problem” is that I travel to a holiday home a number of times during the year on the motorcycle as it’s more cost effective. Bennetts policy is after a total of 90 days in the EU - not necessarily all in one trip you are out of insurance cover full stop until back in the UK.

In the end I went with MCE as they give up to 183 days in any policy year, a lot more use to me. Things may will change from November 1st pending the no deal Brexit anyway as our entry into the EU will be more closely monitored.

just renewed my van insurance I use it for work and transporting bikes over to the iom and accommodation when im over there, I got my renewal quote from my previous company and they wanted £580 fully comp so I thought I would try a comparison site and one of the companies would do it for £230 comp so I went with them it pays to shop around :D

Did that quote come with all the extras that you had with your old insurer? Legal cover etc.? If so, well in there! :thumb:

It is advisable to shop around during renewal season, especially once NCD is obtained for that year.

yes it came with all the bells and whistles :D
