Takeflight640 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 HelloI have a honda cbf600, recently had the carbs balanced and came across a split in my airbox, so I temporarily fixed it, but now I've gone from 160miles before the petrol light comes on to barely 100miles and the petrol light comes on. The fixture I didnt doesn't seem to have broken, and I'm not leaving wet pat hes when I stop, also cant see any leeks?Any help would be greatThank you Quote
Snod Blatter Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 also cant see any leeks?Do the DWP know??Anyway, is it possible that someone has modified the airbox and changed the jetting to suit? Does the split look deliberate? Quote
Takeflight640 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 No the spilt looks like it happened natural but, there wasn't a spilt before the carbs where balanced, the airbox is standard and the jets are standard too, I do smell petrol when starting the bike or when the bike has been running for a while, but I cant work out why or how its dropped to less than 100miles before the petrol light comes on. Guest Richzx6r Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Could be a twist of the wrist?? Quote
Takeflight640 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 It's not a twist of the rist. Quote
billy sugger Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 What year is your 600? mine is a 2008 model with FI Quote
Takeflight640 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 Mines 2006 SA with 19 litre tank, suppose to get 190/200miles on a full tank barely getting 115miles Quote
Guest Richzx6r Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Is there a hole in the tank that you haven't noticed, maybe it's a breather pipe that is causing the problem Quote
Takeflight640 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 No I've had tank off drain submerged in water to check for holes, air dried and still little miles before the tank light comes on Quote
Snod Blatter Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Does it run okay when the engine's up to temperature? Quote
Takeflight640 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 Yes and no, as when she at temperature your able to smell the petrol more, Quote
Stu Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Yes and no, as when she at temperature your able to smell the petrol more, petrol smell believe it or not can mean its running lean! But at idle is irrelevant as it will be when the bikes main jet is in use that could be causing the issue Also check your oil level and keep an eye on it if its rising then you may have a stuck float in the carb which can leak fuel through the cylinder in to the sump.
