James in Brum Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I am sat in sainsbury cafe waiting for the breakdown people. Bike started fine, two minutes later I was going to fill her up but she cut out/stopped just before the pumps and would not start again. I can hear the solenoid but. I turning over, it did try once to turn over. I tried bumping it and it could not quite get going. Can Batteries just suddenly die? Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Can Batteries just suddenly die? Yes. The last one that went for me worked fine all morning. Then middle of the afternoon - totally dead. No warning at all. Quote
QBoiii Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 likewise! at least you have a nice warm cafe to sit in though James! Quote
James in Brum Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Regulator/rectifier is knackered according to breakdown people. She’s in the back of the van now. Just need to work out where to get a replacement from Quote
FallingDown Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 M&P always a good starting point for me. Ring them as they'll often do a bit of a better price over the phone or in person than on the website Quote
James in Brum Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 New probably cheapo manufactured one on eBay 18.99Wemoto 65-85 pounds or second had original £30. What do I do?I shall also call m and p. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I'd avoid the eBay cheapo one. Knowing how they can fail I wouldn't go for a used one unless it was less than 25% the cost of a new one.Hope you can get back on the road soon. Quote
James in Brum Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks Car this morning to work was much less interesting. I think I will order today and hopefully be back on the bike by next week. Quote

Just need to work out where to get a replacement from There are you-tube videos on how to test it, I tested mine and it seemed fine but was not.Easy fit you don't need a mechanic provided you can find it!I bought one from this guy:https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Regulator-Rectifier-Voltage-Fit-For-Kawasaki-ZZR600-ZXR400-ZR750-ZX6R-ZL600-UK/312590892663?hash=item48c7de7e77:g:-E4AAOSwOmBcyD82I think that's the one you need, it worked for the 6 months until I sold the bike (no link other than satisfied customer). For £15 I would give it a go....
