Pillion footpeg ball bearing and scuffed plastics advice

Any ideas how to get this stuck ball bearing out of the pillion footpeg? Have tried soaking in penetrating oil and it's currently soaking with tar and glue remover, which eats grease very effectively. Have tried a welding magnet but it's not strong enough. So suggestions welcome.

Also couple of plastic side panels scuffed/ scratched. Is rubbing down filling and spraying likely to be effective or any other suggestions on how to tart up?

Take the wheel out, put a piece of wood or something against the back and hit it!

 it's just the little ball bearing in the footpeg that gets pushed by a spring into a detent. Tis stuck int hole, see pics.

Have you tried a little heat to expand the ally just a tad not to hot, maybe a hot air gun or the wife’s hairdryer maybe. :thumb:

 yes I know, hit the back (indirectly) the ball should fly out :thumb:

Don't hit the peg directly! It might crack

Id you have foot peg off have you tried a persuader? I would use piece of wood as punch and start with small hammer working your way up?

If peg is off the bike you could always try sticking it in the fridge or even freezer, or gently pressing it out in a vice...

Just be aware it might only come out of hole one way, hole could be conical in shape...

It’s in a hole with no exit has a small spring behind.

Could you drill a tiny hole in the back & poke it out?

Might well be an option. I'll try a wee bit of heat and a tap and see how that goes. At some point it will release and then ping into oblivion never to be seen again.

 I thought I was seeing the tyre behind it in the pic.

That's my sophisticated wash box. A plastic tub.

Work on it in a plastic bag so you don't lose the ball.

A ballbag.

As an update, I've ordered a replacement from a breaker on eBay. Tried penetrating oil, heat, cold, even drilled a hole in from the other side and tried to tap out with a punch but nothing would budge it. I know when I'm beaten.

Spool, any suggestions on the plastic side panels? Can they be filled, sanded and sprayed?

Plastic bumper filler prime and paint.

Cheers young man! Will give it a bash.

It's been a long time since I was called young

It's all in the mind, it's why I'm completely empty as a human being.
