I made the mistake of one computer once...and it died on me. Fortunately I had automatic cloud backup.

 

I currently have two laptops, a desktop Mac and a desktop PC, an iPad with keyboard, and a Steam Deck with keyboard. All of it gets replaced across a three or four year lifespan for each device.

 

Excessive? Probably, but I'm never going through the panic I had before again.

OK - So, found and fixed the water leak (Behind a false wall in the downstairs cloakroom).

 

Next is to get the tiler in to replace the floor tiles, false wall and wall tiles.

Slow leak so wet carpet (hallway - which is how we found out we had a leak).

So, water off, tiles up, tiles off, cut board, cut board (again), found leak, cut more board (and more tiles off), cut pipe around leak (was a crimp joint leaking), replaced pipe section using 'push-on' connections. Checked for leak (by turning water back on) - All good!  Drying out started.

Now dry.

Repairs start Thursday.

Just had a visit from the contractor - He is making a start today! .

Need to buy new tiles - Excuse to pop into Halfrauds to see what else I can get in the way of oils, cleaners, etc. (for t'bike).

8 year old bike recall (2016 S1000XR) for a oil filter that might come loose at speeds after 12k RPM 

 

any gear above 12k RPM is past the speed limit in the UK and most countries

In a fit of absent mindedness I left my phone in the office yesterday so in the evening found myself reduced to watching tv in the hotel. Free channels only. Bloody hell! What an absolute load of unmitigated tripe. If there were no ads it was just shite. The odd interesting program was 10 minutes of "stuff" followed by 5 minutes of ads whichvery soon had me losing the will to live. Went and spent an hour in the bar with a drink or two and women's football on the tv (yawn) then had an eary bed. Determined to never ever allow an idiot boxinto the house. Fortunately the missus is even more anti them than me.
