husoi Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I read some time ago that hiccups are a nervous system thingy. Deep breaths and holding the breath leads to a slowing down of the metabolism (body's rpm ) and making you calm down and be more relaxed. Also by controlling your breath you are diverting the brain's attention to something else than whatever caused the hiccups so the brain kinda "forget" what was doing and stops it. Controlling your breath is one of the techniques used in meditation, so if you do regular meditation you won't be as susceptible to hiccups 1 Quote
manxie49 Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 I always attributed it to roping the curry and poppadoms down too fast, that's the only time I ever seem to get them Quote
Slowlycatchymonkey Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Bijeezus. I haven’t had hiccups since forever and I now can’t get to sleep because I have hiccups. This is entirely and I’m certain non-coincidentally your evil fault, you hex wielder @Bender 2 Quote
