queen bodecia Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Feck! Forgot about that. Cat is well and truly out of the bag now... Quote
Guest Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 if you head from windermere to barrow, you travel down past windermere (the lake) and can then travel along the funess coast line, of morecambe bay and back upto windermereotherwise Askam or Walney are great places to watch the tide..click on image to enlarge. queen bodecia Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 Nice. Will sort out some proper routes nearer the time and once I know if I'm going to be taking the bike or not. I expect the only downside is that the whole area will be heaving that time of year... Quote
Ryan Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'm sure I've been to Hawes. Isn't that more North Yorkshire than Lake District...?I'll need to visit somewhere coastal whilst I'm there. Being in Derbyshire means I very rarely see the sea... i live in whitehaven and in my opinion its the best views in the area for costal sights. it has a great marina to park up and go for a walk. The Jade Mongoose Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I should be off the weekend in question, so we should organize (closer to the time of course) some kind of route taking in some sweeping costal Cumbrian roads.Pleeeeeeease bring the bike QB!!!! 8) Quote
queen bodecia Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Jadey, just get rid of this nasty wet weather rubbash and it's a done deal matey...Did 123 miles last Saturday, so the journey should be OK now... Quote
queen bodecia Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Oooh, only a month away now. I'm in this bizarre predicament of dreading the date but also looking forward to it...No one is allowed to buy a new bike between now and then and jinx the weather OK...? Quote
blakeatron Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 First post!I live in windermere and there are a lot of nice runs out - but i haven't passed my full test yet, still on the 125! Quote
The Jade Mongoose Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Well then, only just over a week to go QB! Who's still up for a ride?Anyone got any ideas/preferences for a rideout on the sat/sunday (26th/27th July)? I'll be free all weekend. A trip round The Lakes ending at a choice beverage-serving establishment perhaps? Quote
queen bodecia Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Still waiting to see what the weather's gonna be like before I commit to taking the bike. Plus my poorly cat might end up curtailing my plans...However, all being well, I'll be on bike and arriving late afternoon Saturday 26th, so a Sunday meet gets my vote. I'll keep yas posted... Quote
blakeatron Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Would love to come on a ride out! But would you be embaressed with me on my learner 125?!...Windermere might be busy as its the airshow Quote
The Jade Mongoose Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Hell no matey. My 1st TMBF rideout was on a 125 cruiser that would only do 60 flat out, along the A65 to Harrogate with 7 or 8 big bikes behind me. I for one am grateful for how welcome i've been made to feel on rides on my 125, and I hope i'm not alone in saying that these rideouts should be open to all forum members regardless of bike.JM Quote
blakeatron Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Cheers mate, it will get to 60 eventually...Got my test in 3 weeks so need as much practice/advice as possible!! Quote
Pacemaker Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Strange, I'm going to be in Kendal the same week Cheers mate, it will get to 60 eventually... Just as you hit the staveley junction down the bypass? Quote
blakeatron Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Cheers mate, it will get to 60 eventually... Just as you hit the staveley junction down the bypass? Nearing the bottom of plantation hill..... how did you guess! Quote
queen bodecia Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 I'm staying just outside Windermere, so could be persuaded with a Devil's Bridge stop off on the way there on the Saturday (can I get a cuppa there?) and/or a Sunday meet...So far the long range forecast for next weekend looks OK-ish but it's a bit too early to tell...My other variable is my poorly cat. I have friends who will look after her, but I'm not leaving her unless she makes a significant improvement this week...Anyway, will keep yas all posted... Quote
