This has been going around for a while, but it makes me laugh. For all the engineers here plus @fastbob I think.

Do you keep that in the bridge for when they get lost down stairs?

More to remind myself that letting engineers loose on anything  can sometimes have unexpected results. Sometimes good but not always.

Engineers are great, I liked one in particular.  You know the bit that doesn't quite work properly, most engineers look at it say it works well enough and that's it.

Loved one engineer set him on it sometimes he would pull out an ace fix "the knack".

Other times it would never work again.  Either way it was a win, one that always comes to mind was adjusting the internal securing mechanism on a weather tight door, it always let rain in. We got a nice shiny new door in the end.

Just this last trip my young Russian ESO fiddled with the gas detection system which hadn't worked properly for 9(!) years and discovered that it had been wrong installed during construction.  Bear in mind the damned thing was serviced by a manufacturer's rep every 12 months as well. Grrr.

did any one see the motorbike show , think it was last weeks episode , where his mate made the grips for the custom bike Henry is doing, all on his lathe the old fashioned way, they was a work of art .
