onesea Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Not COVID this time... kennel cough - bloody dogs I suppose now they are both symptomatic they are past the infectious stage. Then no one wants to see dogs walking around hacking there lungs out. Quote
Gerontious Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Now I remember why I'm not too bothered about a £20 vaccination. Quote

Sadly with our vets with lockdown are like fort knocks. They have also let slip there vaccination reminders, so we where not aware they where due. We actually had the chat a week or so ago, tried to phone they where engaged. You know when a vet is busy when they are happy with your diagnosis over the phone (it took 15minutes to get through). They are not interested in booking us an appointment. When we got our second dog it took 6 months to get an initial examination, most of the local vets are in similar situation. Large influx of pets to area. After the local vets we are looking at an hours drive and I don’t know how busy they are. 1 Quote
Tiggie Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Bad luck Vaccinations don't always work for kennel cough either. A friend of mines dog caught it and she was fully up to date with everything 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 “Kennel cough” is a generic term for the symptoms and not strictly speaking an actual disease. The vaccine is aimed specifically at the Bacterial cause of the disease. If a dog has been vaccinated against this bacterium and then later develops classic kennel cough symptoms then…. It’s time to freak out and make an emergency appointment with a vet. Any decent vet would want to see that dog immediately. Same day. Quote
onesea Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 Well either way for next few days we are taking on the challenge of changing the floor in utility room and toilet... Presently googling flooring for the area. Chipboard leaking roof and washing machine leak means starting afresh... Quote
Marino Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I have my dog regularly vaccinated, it’s required by dog daycare where he goes twice a week. Never had issues with vets not before or during pandemic. Vet is at “pets at home”, Quote
