mickmichael Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Hi I'm 68 and can't seem to find an answer to a bit of a mistery. 45 years ago I did some sort of test on my then Lambretta SX200, I remember a chap jumping out into the road, but thats it. I have nothing relating to this and was wondering if this would still be 'somewhere' so I could ride a motorbike without any test?? I have a full car licence. Quote
Bender Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 If you passed a test and it was processed it would show up on your licence, if something didn't get sent off and it wasn't registered your fooked. Quote
mickmichael Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 I have an A on the liecence, but then 79(3) that says restricted to trikes, i presume i'm fooked!! Quote
bonio Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Yup, you've summed it up right What you wanted was an A with nothing in column 12. Quote
mickmichael Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 Still not sure what I did on my Scooter 45 years ago, it was definatly some sort of a test, i was 23 at the time!!! Lambretta SX 200, worth a few bob now, what a birk I was, I was a 'mod' with a big fur coat and lots of mirrors. coming home from Scarborough at night with bloody sunglasses on, ended up in a ditch with bent forks!!!! 1 Quote
Blackholesun Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 But you can ride 125 mopeds with no L plates I think Quote
TimR Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 (edited) 1 hour ago, Blackholesun said: But you can ride 125 mopeds with no L plates I think Nope. Only if you passed your car test before before 1 February 2001 without l plates you can ride a moped (50cc /limited to 28mph) The term moped (assigned category AM on a UK driving licence) describes any low-powered motor driven cycle with an engine capacity not greater than 50 cc (3.1 cu in) and a maximum design speed of no more than 45 km/h (28 mph). You do not need to take compulsory basic training (CBT) to ride a moped if you passed your car driving test before 1 February 2001. You’ll still need to complete CBT to ride a motorbike, however. Depending on your licence issue the catergories may be different https://www.gov.uk/old-driving-licence-categories You can check licence entitlement online Edited September 10, 2021 by TimR Quote
