Can I limit a large bike and ride with only CBT?

Can I limit something like a 650cc bike down to 125cc to legally ride it with L plates on a CBT license? Is there a limit to how much you can limit? 😆

What's the largest bike I can limit down to 125cc to legally ride on CBT license?

Possibly dumb question!

I'm not sure but I'm fairly certain you can't restrict a larger bike down to 125cc. It's not just capacity it's power as well (12kW?).

It would be a nightmare to insure and if it could be done there'd be more folks doing it. Given there's not I suspect you can't.

Nope you can't.

But if you buy a decent secondhand Japanese 125 and ride it (like the Varadero), you will be able to sell it on at the same price when you want to move up to a 650.

Thanks guys, I won't be getting involved with limiting after all then.

Luckily Japanese 125s are pretty liquid and can be bought and sold within a year relatively painlessly from what I've seen. I'll just flip it and move up when I outgrow it. Cheers
