onesea Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 Why is it getting so specialised… For years I have used a jacket for just about everything. Historically it’s been Fleece style showerproof, vaguely wind proof, with large pockets. One I can put on to walk dogs, go to pub, go to the boat, go to in-laws just and all round jacket. If I have to be smart I have a smart jacket, if it’s rough when sailing I have a jacket. I guess it started as a kid with a Javelin Jacket, then fleece and then fleece with wind proof liner, then egg shell fleece which makes a terrible pillow when travelling but better water resistance. Now it seems you need specialised ventilated for summer extra warm for winter, light weight for warm showery days a different layer for everything. Starting with your friggin underwear. If I know it’s going to be wet I will wear my waterproof, cold an extra jumper, hot and sunny it can stay in the car. Your average day I don’t get to wet cold or hot. 3 in one is no use, they just don’t work on your average day… Am i the only one, 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 No you're not. I've got so many bloody jackets for different things it's ridiculous. Even my wife is starting to raise an eyebrow. Quote
