Not sure what to make of this...

1k that's worse than chinese bikes. I'd go with the owners manual 10k. Modern engines and oils tend to go longer between changes.

Exactly this 

 

its giving you the KM at when to do it 

 

for ease in miles its 600 miles 6000 miles 12000 miles 18 24 30 36 42 48 54 60 66 72 78 and so on 

 

This service interval is pretty much standard for most bikes
