Troy Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) Came across this today… https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ride-free-new-online-motorcycle-training-to-improve-road-safety?fbclid=IwAR2eNwdgGpHAfu9l2w_vMJSeETCWTU3xzlSVPx0dN66e1xGDacWGJ4Qx28g I think it’s a good idea. Tiggie Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Looks good to me. Especially the highway code section. People shouldnt be allowed out without knowing the rules of the road. Quote

By that did you mean… every one should know them like the back of their hand or do you mean, learn them well enough to use the road safely. I ask because, if I’m being honest with myself….. I can’t tell you a single thing about the Highway Code other than the fact I learned about parts of it during my car and bike test years ago but since I haven’t refreshed my memory. Yet I don’t consider myself a hazard to others because of this (not bragging, just a personal examination of myself) Realistically, Not even PC Plod knows what’s on every page Edited November 11, 2022 by Troy 1 Quote
Tiggie Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 No need to know it verbatim. But knowing what a one way road is and who has right of way at a junction is useful Quote
Blackholesun Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I’m not really sure if I know the HC or not tbh ! Quote

KiwiBob Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 It's a shame the government don't follow the New Zealand example and subsidise on road training. Their Ride Forever scheme gave you a full days training for NZ$20 (about £10) https://www.rideforever.co.nz/improve-your-skills/on-road-coaching/on-road-coaching/ 1 Quote
Bender Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Today I almost chased a police van driver, unfortunately by the time I released he was driving with one hand whilst texting or Facebooking with the other hand I had just left the roundabout going the opposite direction, the twat. 1 Quote
