SherbetLemon Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Hi I hope this is in the correct place and the question is permitted. I inherited a Triton that my father built. I'm wondering how much I should ask for if I sell it. I appreciate it's only photos but any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Quote
Old-codger Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Hi there it all depends on how its been built and the quality of the parts and skill in the builder. Is it finished and on the road or is it in bits still. Has the bike got a registration document any receipts for parts or jobs done to the bike. Do you know what frame and engine was used in the triton build as some are worth more than others. If you are not into bikes you could try classic bike dealers/builders for advice they may be interested. If so send lots of pictures and see what they say on value. There is a guy who writes in Classic Bike magazine called Rick Parkington, you could drop him an email and ask for his opinion. Good luck hope it goes well and sorry for your loss. Quote

I'm sorry I tried uploading photos but I can't seem to get it to work. Thank you, he was a motorcycle man for over 60 years, both racing and for pleasure and precision engineer for nearly as long. It's a good bike. Thank you for your advice. Quote

Be cautious who you take advice from, take a second opinion. I know of one local bike museum that buys these bike cheap for good cause, display and demonstration etc. Within months it’s sold at a large premium having been x museum pieces and on display. Quote
fastbob Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 There are loads on eBay ranging from £6,000 to £12,000 . It all depends on the specifications and the quality of the engineering plus that elusive thing called provenance . I would approach Bonham's auctioneers to get the optimum price for it . Quote
hawkeye Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 As others have said be careful selling it on. In their day Tritons were the thing to have, Norton featherbed frame and a Triumph engine, usually a 650 Bonny engine everyone wanted one. Today they are still a thing to have today. Condition does matter but even real basket case will fetch a fair amount. Your into bikes yourself with the Harleys, loved everyone of mine but old age caught up with me. Not sure about the ER5, i have one as well and it was a right PITA. Ride safe. Quote
