Tried to connect heated grips, positive battery screw only twisting, sparks and now doesn't turn on

Hi all,

I was trying to install heated grips - I unscrewed the negative screw all good, I then tried to unscrew the positive one and while initially it came loose, it just kept twisting and turning and no sign of going any further up.

Then it sparked, I tried to turn the bike on, it sparked again and now dead.

I'm not really sure what to do.. how do I get the positive screw out and why did it spark.. think I f$"$"k up

Well at least the bike turns on again.. I screwed the negative in a bit harder and it worked again. The positive side is still a bit loosey.

Hard to say without being able to see the battery connection. Is it the type with the captive nut - in which case is that spinning inside the housing?

I'm 99% sure that's the issue, but honestly kind of put off from the sparks now. I tried to pry a allen key in there to hold the captive nut, but can't really see inside so it's hard to tell if I'm holding the nut or not.

I'm bringing to a mechanic tomorrow for them to install the heated grips, I got a TEC Exhaust that I'll try to install myself instead.

Yeah the screw/nut has most likely threade or worn. Most common it will the a square nut, access will be from the side of the battery terminal with a bit of a lip so youll need to lift over or up with a pick (wood or plastic is best) or a magnet.

It probably sparked because something is still connected, an alarm or a clock for instance.
