Davidtav Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 (edited) The first time I took my motorbike test I was using the bike to commute to work. I was a teacher. School was a secondary in Camden. Home was in Essex. I didn’t have any lessons but I thought after successfully battling through London traffic every day for a couple of months I should be able to pass. I got a morning off school to take the test. I didn’t tell any of the kids at the school. Unfortunately though, I didn’t pass. And even more unfortunately another teacher had told the kids what I was doing that morning. And they royally took the piss. As teenage boys are prone to do! … I passed a couple of months later. I had one lesson for an hour immediately before the test this time. This was in 1995 Edited January 22, 2024 by Davidtav 2 Quote

Rode round the block twice and got lost. Eventually found the test centre again and the examiner who said “well you haven’t had an accident or fallen off so I will pass you after a couple of questions on road signs”. Ironically one was for falling rocks, very useful as the test was in RUISLIP. Still got the little red book licence - expired years ago though. you old git lol Quote

Didn't really enjoy the CBT if I am honest and was not confident to go out first time. Couple of old school biker types who had no patience for learners but because I am stubborn and had bought my kit I got through the CBT. initial CBT plus revisit cost me ~£200. Bought myself a nice little 125 and was loving that. Was thinking of keeping doing the CBT and sticking with a 125 but decided in a moment of madness to try direct access done over four days. Cost about £800 all in and passed first time. Experience was night and day and the group I did my direct access with were fantastic (CMS Bike School in Aberdeen). It helped I was confident on a bike by that point but I watched them deal with others who weren't and they were really good. well if you ever need a run out, I'm not as bad as I sound these days Edited January 23, 2024 by Vic101 spelling Quote

Ian Frog Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Eat with one and sleep with the other! Your choice which way round. Remember if it`s got tits or tyres it will be expensive trouble. Cheers Ian 2 3 Quote
