  1. I have not gone for the heated grips option so fingers crossed I will have 100% power when needed
  2. I opted for the standard manual gearbox. For now DCT is for later down the line.
  3. After just 7 weeks of using my wonderful CB500F 2022 model i have chopped it in for.... hold on Why? Well first can I just say that the CB is a really good bike. Fun, Nibble and light and its the last bit that is my issue. The lightness of the bike becomes apparent when tackling windy motorways, especially passing lorries. I have a bad chest so need protection from the wind bashing my chest, so added a large touring windscreen which helped quiet a bit. But the lack of weight to help plant it on motorways is still an issue. I also carry a camera and bits and bobs, that I need to access fast so added the excellent Oxford M4r tank bag. The other day I attached my Kappa top box and looked at my bike with its bigger screen, tank bag and large top box and realized I had turned my nimble street machine into its Adventure cousin the CB500X. After reading some reviews and watching long term owner reviews on the utube, and talking to the guys at my Honda dealers ANDDDD getting a quote for insurance, which for some reason is £200 quid cheaper than my CB500F insurance, I have bought and paid for a brand new Honda NC750X. I note that the standard screen has a 50 /50 result for those who like and those who have bought the larger one, but will leave that until I hit the motorways and see for myself. My dealer took the liberty of adding the center stand as he knows I would of added it anyway so thats the garage and parking sorted out. Still in my early honeymoon days of motor biking so fingers crossed the next time I upgrade will be a week or so before the NC needs its first MOT. I wish you well and safe riding
  4. Thanks all for the replies. I have, with trepidation, started to get my head around the counter steering malarkey as well. Push Left to go left and vise versa. On the quieter parts of my ride into work today, I tried it out and hmmm seems to have advantages. Something worth investing time into. I wish you all well and safe riding
  5. Keep at it, I am , and each time it seems to get better. I must look odd to drivers as I seem to be doing it in slow traffic as well out of habit now lol. Probably a bit naughty but at least the drivers can not say "sorry mate i did not see you" Will take your advise and look at counter steering also and I wish you well.
  6. I am down for a BikeSafe day when availability comes up but thought I would watch some videos of them doing it and try it myself. As I mention, today has been the first day where I seem to be getting it
  7. I have been putting into practice positioning for road bends. Position 3 to go left and 1 to go Right. Today after two weeks of practice was the first day that it all started to make sense and my riding felt much more controlled. Got to admit I went into a tighter corner than I thought, a little hot the other day, which was interesting, but kept upright and learned a lesson. Just thought I would share that. Practice makes perfect as they say...... I'm way of perfect lol.
  8. Thank you. Failed both MODS once but learned from each experience. Also the added cost focuses the mind lol. I wish you well Dave
  9. Thank you. It seemed a long time coming and something I should of done 30 odd years ago. But I have now and loving the extra BHP over my beloved CB125F I wish you well Dave
  10. Thank you and seemed right that I handed my Givi topbox over to the next person who takes on my CB125F. The CB500F had the rack already fitted and I added a Kapa 46ltr box yesterday. A box to lug my camera gear about in and lock my crash helmet away when I'm snapping away. I wish you well Dave
  11. I have lots and you might regret mentioning you also like pictures here lol
  12. Passed 2nd time Friday 9th Feb 2024. CBT £150 Theory £23 MOD 1 £330 x 2 as failed first for being 5kph to slow for the hazard avoidance but passed second time MOD 2 £330 x 2 as failed first but, as mention above, passed second time. "My" full licence (unrestricted) cost me £1493 Today is the 4th day of being fully licensed plus owning my CB500F and it has already been worth every single penny.
  13. My navigation is Google maps via phone linked to my Sena Stryker helmet. Pop the phone in my jacket pocket and charge all kit when needed, cables in bag in top box, at an overnight hotel / b&b or at home. For now seems to work and no need for wiring up to the bike. Tomorrow needs might change
  14. Hello all Friday 9th Feb 2024 I passed my MOD 2 and picked up my pre-bought CB500F (2022 model 680miles). Today as I write it is Tuesday morning and we have both shared about 200 miles of fun to get to know each other. I commute to work, rain or shine, 3 days a week and for the rest of the week I take mainly film photographs and the motorbike is going to make it easier to get out and about sharing our beautiful country. I have a small but growing YouTube channel and davesphoto.co.uk is where I blog all my adventure in Photography and Motorcycling. My bike is pictured but buying a top box today and having the center stand fitted while I'm away fro a few days. I wish you all well and safe riding.
