Madventure Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 As an owner of a Husqvarna norden, I would advise all potential buyers to go for the KTM 890R instead. At under 2000 miles, on my first big trip from Cambridge to Morocco. I had a problem with the fork seals, just as I was about to board the ferry. I contacted the nearest Husqvarna dealership, which was in Malaga 80 miles away. They confirmed that Husqvarna would replace the fork seals under warranty and it would take about 3 hrs. I got the bike to the dealership but oil had leaked over the brake discs and calipers. They then said they didn't know the norden expedition had bigger forks than the standard norden. So they didn't have the 48mm seal kit required. I had to return to my campsite by bus and taxi. I contacted Husqvarna UK, but they said sorry nothing we can do. It took Husqvarna Spain two week to get the parts and repair the bike. I found out later that I had ridden past a KTM dealer 14 miles away. They had the parts to repair the bike the same day. I am told thrre is no cooperation between KTM and Husqvarna. I sold a KTM to buy the Husqvarna, this was a big mistake. I lost two weeks of my holiday thanks to this Husqvarna dealership. It didn't end there, I later received a invoice from the dealership. They claimed Husqvarna were not now paying for the repair. ? So I have lost faith in Husqvarna. 1 3 Quote
S-Westerly Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Can quite understand why. I'd not be too keen either with that sort of runaround. Quote
bonio Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Great review! I don't believe you're under any obligation to pay that invoice. If it were me I'd write to the dealer and say that the problem clearly is one between them and the manufacturer and that it is completely unprofessional and unacceptable of them to try to draw you into it. Even if they got you to sign something to say that you were liable for costs there's an argument to say that the agreement has no force as it tries to take away the basic consumer rights granted you by their warranty. I don't if this argument has any legal force but it may make think hard before asking a lawyer to prepare a court summons 2 1 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 what year is the bike? so much for Hus dealer knowing about the products they sell and maintain!!!! sometimes low quantity, top specs (unique) individual parts have draw backs. if your bike is still under warranty its not your problem as they will have to claim of hus main central, ive heard of foreign regions not accepting claims or trying there luck but its incredibly rare. if just out of warranty you may be-able to get them to go half or most of the way with the cost? as a gesture of good will. other than that if you do decide to keep the bike and it keeps leaking it may well be worth check out an independent suspension specialist for more durable seals/parts.
