Mickly Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Just renewed my multi bike policy, tried to sell me a £17/Month £25k benefit death / serious injury add on. I asked about accidents trail riding on ‘roads’ apparently those type of ‘roads’ are excluded ( even though they are technically roads) asked them to define what was and wasn’t included , they said they didn’t have a section in the policy that actually covered it, just some weasel words about ‘reasonable’ use!! Be warned!! 2 2 Quote

Just spent about 15 minutes filling in a quote application only to be told, at the end, that they can't provide a quote I must have got lucky or because I’m old either way, they was at least £500 cheaper than anyone else 1 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted May 14 Posted May 14 I seem to recall GoSkippy being cheap but having very high excesses. Almost like a hybrid between 3rd Party and Fully Comp, by the time they paid out. Quote
Stevehessleuk Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Should I see a lower amount on insurance next year ? No idea on bike insurance, obviously if I don’t make a claim Quote

Hairsy Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) I was with GoSkippy on one of my project bikes. They were certainly cheap but, when I sold the bike after only 2 months and asked for a cancellation, the cancellation fee exceeded the 10 month refund. They graciously waived part of the fee and called it quits. Edited May 14 by Hairsy 1 Quote

Stevehessleuk Posted May 15 Posted May 15 That’s good to know. I only pay £220 on my wife’s vw id3 with business use, so hoping a drop down on the bike next year. I’ve been driving a car 36 years I’ve got 2 car insurance’s, 2 vans insurance and now bike insurance which is in 3rd place on cost 1 Quote
bonio Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I'm with you. I've one car insurance and three bike insurance but I've never a multivehicle policy that does it any cheaper. Quote
Stevehessleuk Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I tried multi vehicle insurance 2 years ago and was laughable the prices, I’ll stick to separate insurance thanks. We are just paying for other people’s mistakes on the road Quote
RideWithStyles Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Insurances seem to have this thought of the water shed off the 600cc capacity. went straight from 600s 100hp (TC and zx6r) with a bit of money pain for the first year or so as expected but first policy was still around £500 off memory. jumped to 1000cc 150hp yet not much of a difference to them apparently considering the fact it does make a massive difference of half again on an already fast and dangerous vehicle. but I went down to a 500 46hp for four years, more than twice the difference less in power but didn’t make that much difference to the quote considering the fall. after the four years I went to a 650 with only 77hp so roughly half again more but asked me if I have then experienced with a 600 or more before within two or so years so I said the previous bike was a 1000cc four years ago, surprisingly the quote was pretty much the same. Steve depending on the price of your total separate policies have you looked into business/trade policies? Most of the time they can cover a lot for less… Quote

Not counting, 2 building insurances, commercial combined and 2 life insurances. They must love me 1 Quote
JTDG Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Got my first big bike about a month or so ago. Was paying £33 a month for my CB125F, 2021 Ninja 650, quote came back at £550. Considering I have 0 years no claims, and only had a full license around 4 weeks at the time. Garaged overnight, mentioned around a Oxford mini lock, but have heard don’t put that in future as difference is negligible. Sold my 125, guy said his r1 costs him £80 a year Back when I was in Liverpool before moving to Dumfries area, a quote for my 125 was £400 a month . Surprisingly, I tried to enquire with Bennett’s as I watch a lot of bike social stuff. They refused to insure me at all. Shame as it means I’ll probably never go with them in the future.
