Before I put something in the Rant thread, I’m attempting to understand what is the point of owning / using a drone other than for professional* purposes.

*a broad definition but it’s the best I can come up with as a brief summary.

I did some shooting at 600 yards and could not clearly see the impact on the target board even with a decent telescope. It used to bother me to have to bag the rifle up and trot down to the target to see where I was hitting. After two or three times it becomes tiresome so I now simply send the drone down-range and view it on my phone. I see a lot of motorcycle travel video's on youtube where the addition of some drone shots makes for good viewing.

I can see the purpose in that but last year my wife and I were up on Cleeve Hill near Cheltenham and this bloody drone started buzzing around like some kind of hyperactive wasp. Was damned noisy and rather spoiled the ambience of the place.

Saw one brought down by a kid with a bow and arrow once after it was annoying the whole campsite. Gave us all a good chuckle.

Having flown model aircraft I can see the fun of flying one but the code of conduct for rc planes/egg scramblers was not to fly in public places or near property. Flying was restricted to model airfields with planning permission.  Or silent flight in more public space.

Flying drones near people / buildings / livestock is anti social. They produce much more noise than an electric model aircraft.
