Paul Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Interesting thread, never thought about where/how to store your kit before till now!!Anyhow, my jacket at the moment is slumped on the floor next to my piano in the back room. My gloves are stuffed inside my lid which is on the top of a bookshelf next to some of my photographic kit. My trousers are folded up nice at the bottom of my bed in the loft next to both sets of my boots! I also have a neck tube and a cold killers balaclava that are just here on a shelf on the bookshelf where my helmet is.Gem, where did you buy your rack from, (stop sniggering lads) looks handy that, would be ideal in the hallway here next to my new kitchen? It's from here or they do ones for just one helmet too, here. Ha, I got some strange looks carrying it down the road Thank you Gem. Quote
nman1 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 in a heap on the floor in my hall......really, sometimes my leathers get thrown on a hanger but everything else on floor I`m with Phil on this one, socks in boots...despite the whiff.undergarments in a heap in the corner of my living room, leathers slung over a chair, gloves in lid on my table. queen bodecia Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I have a large and a small wardrobe. The large one has all my usual clothes, shoes, boots and luggage stored on the top shelf. The small one has ski gear, bike gear and luggage. I guess I'm another OCDer. I never leave anything out, it's always put away where it belongs. Quote
Ratser Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I have a locker closet in my integral garage for all bike clothing, helmets, panniers etc.And a wee chair to sit on while I get ready.I also have a nice shelf unit for all the cleaner, chain lube and so on.I have a drawer unit for cloths and some tools.Recently painted the garage and now have posters of Rossi, Stoner, Ducatis, Hondas, and a couple of Iron Maiden and Metallica ones as well. All I need now is a second bike to put in there. pumilio Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I have a wardrobe just for bike gear where I store all gear including clothing, bags, satnav, security devices and helmets. I even use it to empty out my pockets and store keys and such. It has a rudimentary lock, which is useful to keep the rugrats at bay. Before I got the wardrobe I usually chucked it in various places, mainly a big chair in the front room Quote
Steve365 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I feel ashamed now my kits all over the place but mainly pushed under the bed as nowhere else to put it. Glad it's not just me. Also stops the kids from running round in my lid bashing into things! Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Stolen Gem's idea. http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/MonkeyKnuckle/GEDC0002.jpg Quote
Paul Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I got the double one here, it's white and the screws that come with it are tiny!! The wall plugs supplied are big though so I am hoping it will take the weight of all my kit on it. Will be putting it up sometime tomorrow so will post pics then of it on the floor more than likely! rennie Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I live in a 3 bed detached house on my own I put my kit wherever i feel like at the time!normally either in the cupboard under the stairs or the smallest bedroom. Quote
chiz Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I've forgot where most of my gear is, I'm in the process of moving house so the lessons have been on the back burner for a few weeks. My girlfriends gear is definately in removal boxes somewhere in the house as she's given up on bikes since the new test came in. Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I got the double one here, it's white and the screws that come with it are tiny!! The wall plugs supplied are big though so I am hoping it will take the weight of all my kit on it. Will be putting it up sometime tomorrow so will post pics then of it on the floor more than likely! I used different, bigger screws on mine. Didn't like the look of the ones that came with it. Quote
Paul Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Got it sorted this morning and it is quite solid. Not the best pics as they are from my phone........Nice and handy little thing to have to keep it all in one place and tidy. Also got a free padded helmet bag with mine which was a bonus. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e200/pprune/Image828.jpghttp://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e200/pprune/Image829.jpgCheers Gem for the inspiration originally!! Gem Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 Haha now we've all got helmet shelves! Glad I gave some of you the idea of getting one! Quote
mojobanana Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I'd have got one, but it won't fit! I've just fitted some shelves in the cupboard under my stairs though.. helmet now nestled on top shelf Quote
rennie Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I always put my helmet on, or near to, the floor!that way there's less chance of expensive accidents Quote
MtotheJ Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I think Gem should get a cut of the profits for these! Done a good job of advertising for them Quote
martlewis Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Just spent 3 days building a wood canopy over an 8x6 area of decking outside the conservatory doors. The misses agreed cos as I explained I was building it so she can sit in the shade outside or on rainy summer evenings. Really tho it just happens to cover the area where I lock up my bike and with some conveniently placed coat hooks I now have somewhere to take off my wet gear and hang it to drip dry. After that it all lives in a heap on the conservatory sofa. Quote
martlewis Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Last week I replaced the steps up to the back gate leading onto the decking with a ramp so she can get the pushchair up there Quote
