ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 t has a small green roundish plastic thing in it.With a spring ring going round it at the top and a solid ring near the bottom. What is it?Do i need to use this on anything or replace it ?It's obviously used for something but where do i put it?http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9049/dsc00610i.jpg http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2359/dsc00610jgg.jpg http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/dsc00610jgg.jpg/1/w640.png?????? Alex Gold Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Oil seal? I guess put it where a worn-looking version on the same thing is, if you come across it! Quote
ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Oil seal? I guess put it where a worn-looking version on the same thing is, if you come across it!Cheers mate.It is from the power valve. There is 1 in there that looks gunked up.Will it be ok to leave the one that is in there now?Or is it best if i replace it? ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 if you have it replce it Ok thanks again m8.Another question now I'm about to put the powervalve in, but which way does it does it go back in?Just to be on the safe side?Cheers:) Quote
ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 I've another question now, the bar that goes across the frame and at the side of the engine.Which way does this go?And As there is 2 screws on it, what does it hold on? Quote
k3vvk Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Thats a valve stem oil seal, always best to change them if you have the valves out. you dont want it to start burning oil then doing the job all over again. Quote
Bill_on_a_bike Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 That's a valve stem oil seal, but, as far as I know power valves are a 2 stroke thing? But 2 strokes dont have valves Quote
ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Ok, thanks for helping all.The bike is all done minus the worst part of all.THE EXHAUST SPRINGS.....Man i seriously hate this bit.Is there an easy way to do this?Any1 please help Quote
Guest Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 buy a spring puller.. makes life easier.. "T" bar handle with a hook... Quote
ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Finnally done it all but i think i had a wee prob.I done another compression test and i am getting 100-105 pressure I know after what i have done it should read higher? What could it be?Will it just need running in? Quote
ginge511 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Any ideas any1 please?Totally stuck to y it is so low? Thanks again. Quote

ginge511 Posted August 8, 2009 Author Posted August 8, 2009 Is thi right?Round about 120 pressure in the engine of should the rs 125 have more when the top end is replaced?I'm going to go for another pin in a min when the engine has fully cooled then do another compreion test.Hope it goes even higher I can feel the egine will pull a mile better then when i had it before this rebuild.sO FAR SO GOOD Just got back in, can definatly tell there is more power evenn though i didn't go ove 7000 rpm, mainly run between 4-5000 rpm.Got n, done compressio test and it read 100 again????This was when it was red hot mind u 88 it was when stopped, tried again when it was 71, n it went to 110.Tried a few secs later, back to 100???Wtf??118 it was before.Any ideas plz? rosszx9r Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 what did you do with the valve stem oil seal when you're working on a 2 stroke? testing when hot should give better results. i assume by pressure you mean PSI? Quote
Bill_on_a_bike Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 In a 2 stroke engine, I imagine all that can get pressure escape are either piston rings being nackered or the cylinder walls being damaged. Seeing as how you've just done this rebuild i'd hope the rings were perfect aslong as they've been run in right. Did you rebore the cylinder or anything?Other thing is, all pressure testing equipment has to, at some point, be calibrated. Do you know this compression tester to be accurate.I don't mean to joke, but have you screwed the compression tester right in, because if not it could be losing pressure round the threads? What's the pressure supposed to be?
