  1. also you will need to do your test on a bigger bike then the 125 otherwise you will be restricted so you will have to go to a training school and hire a bike!!

  3. If you try bending it chances are it will snap Some have an adjuster so you can alter the distance try looking for one on ebay not sure if any others will fit!
  4. not had those tyres but going from experience you cant go far wrong with michelins
  5. ive had problems with front switches before and some you can take apart and fix some its a new switch

    check chain tension most common thing the chain could be too tight making the output shaft bearing whine or if its just in the first few gears it could just be normal gearbox whine some are louder then others
  10. bloody hell where do i start with this one!!! mine is a 1997 model registered in 98 production ran from early 97 to 2001 with minor engine and ecu adjustments to tame the bike i never paid for it i swapped it for my old gsxr600 owned it for the last 5 years! with mine been the 97 model it has the full power ecu which is irrelevent now with power commanders but whats more important is the engine has bigger inlet ports then the others mine has been recalled to have a steering damper fitted due to the power and crap suspension and the front end going a little (read a lot) light it used to tank slap big time and killed a few people which was then given a name of a widow maker! suzuki's answer was to recall them and fit a damper and dismissed anything said about the new revolutionary rotary damper system on the rear suspension! as you can guess from above the rear suspension was different and crap it consisted of a separate spring and damper unit the spring was mounted on the right running along side the engine and the rear damper was a new design where the internals turn rather then a piston moving in and out hence rotary damper the idea was brought up so they could keep the wheelbase short so it handled really well, the rotary damper just didnt work full stop it was too hard to the point that suspension mounts could snap!! the oil could not flow through the valves quick enough anyway for those that doesnt knwo what the damper looks like heres a pic http://i.ebayimg.com/21/!B-W5(s!!mk~$(KGrHqJ,!g4Ezd9iqNZ4BM8gBkg!,w~~_3.JPG the front suspesion isnt too bad can be a little too soft but easily sorted i replaced the rear system for a bitubo which does away with the oe spring and damper and puts it all together like it should be and while doing so transforms the bike the handling of the bike is great now i have rid of the rear suspension! they can be made to handle with the rotary damper it just take a lot of work the engine is spot on its a 90 degree V twin i have 34k on mine and at 28k was checked over and only needed 2 valves adjusting as they was slightly out! i know of a few of these engines with over 200k on the clock and only ever done routine maintenance on them they dont have a lot of power 125bhp but they have bags of torque about 80lb which is what matters you can squeeze 135bhp and about 90lb of torque from them but costs the earth!! the riding position is full on race so no comfort at all i have done 400 miles in a day on mine and it almost killed me! a lot of people swap the rear 190/50 tyre for a 180/55 to make it steer quicker i tried one and was always on the edge of the tyre and it moved about a lot!! the rear rim is 6 inch wide and a 180 tyre is made for a 5.5 inch rim so your stretching it out which isnt good! i now run a 190/55 which is the same hight as the 180 but is the right width so steers quicker and sticks like glue only had the rear slide a few times with the 190 the front brakes arent that great as you only have 4 pot calipers! but can easily be swapped for a set of 6 pots and a bigger master cylinder for less then £100 ive never have a problem with the brakes but its a big v twin you dont need brakes ive done a few tastefull mods to mine undertray led rear light with built in indicators fender extender hugger and the most important bit a set of yoshimura open race cans the sound is amazing from them a power commander is a must to smooth out the throttle response otherwise you may aswell have it on a on and off switch hmmmmmm reading back through all this the bike doesnt sound all that great!! but they are brilliant bikes all the little bits are outweighed by the grin factor if i got rid of this i would have another one tomorrow no questions asked overall they are an excellent bike with a few quirks but once you ride one its miles of smiles

  14. I too agree that its a good idea but there's not really much call for it to be honest! If we only have one or two projects a year it might be a waste of space! But on the flip side without the section people won't post their project threads! It's a catch 22 Let us give it some thought

  17. ive got the first TomTom that was made for bike the rider V1 had it for a fair few years now i bought it second hand for a right bargain off £80 for what i have used it for its been great its ideal for small trips the screen is easy to see touch screen isnt too bad considering the size of it can be fiddly putting post codes in though i use a program called TYRE (trace your route everywhere) http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php for plotting routes and load them to the sat nav and it follows them pretty good it has bluetooth built in with a headset and speaker which allows you to pair you mobile to the sat nav and receive calls which is great up to about 80mph the only downside to the sat nav is it doesnt have an option to take you to the nearest fuel stop like some of the latest ones do while you are in navigation you have to come out of it and find a fuel stop and navigate directly to it but apart from that i cant fault it

  19. i had a set of RST leathers about 5 years ago cant remember which model paid £350 for them best set of leathers i have owned they was really comfy they fit in all the right areas never had no problems with them at all and back then they where dooing 15k a year until i decided to test them properly and after my 3rd crash in them they was well past their best!! first two crashes where soft ish landings so didnt really take a toll on them but the last one was pretty fast and ended up sliding along the roads for some time not one part of them wore through but had removed the stitching and bust the zip through sliding they did their job and they did it well i would get another set tomorrow if i could

What model was it? 1991 L1 although they are all the same through the years When did you buy it and how much did it cost? purchased it in 2003 when i first passed my test and paid £1500 Good points? excellent brakes great handling still got the looks for an old bike! easy to work on plenty of spares common tyre sizes 120/60/17 front 160/60/17 rear makes tyres a little easier to get compared to some 400's plenty fast enough excellent in the twistys 145 top end!! Bad points? seat can be a little uncomfy Would you get another? yes insurance group 12 Any other comments? Probably one of the best 400's about having ridden a few nothing compared to this its the tallest out of all the 400's so ideal if your a bit of a lanky twat these things handle like the are on rails with 64bhp and only 163kg wet theres plenty enough power on them and with 310mm front disks the brakes better then some of the latest 1000cc's! front end is well planted on the floor although it can slap its head once in a while the engines are bullet proof and very basic and easy to work on had a couple of electrical issues on mine but easily sorted out was only mainly lighting so nothing major all in all a excellent starting bike are something for honing around on great fun plenty of power for over takes and soon reaches that top speed with ease! also has a claimed 42mpg so can be pretty good for a commute http://classic-motorbikes.net/images/gallery/1990-zxr400.jpg

    think for a normal house your looking at about 10 - 15k for the solar panels!! and depending on how big/many panels you can sell it back to the grid not sure if its worth it or not!!
  23. i would turn your mobile internet off and leave it off while your away because it can soon mount up to a huge bill to turn off go to settings>>wireless and networksscroll now to mobile network and untick the box
