  2. Yes, I use a ram ball that replaces one of the bolts of your clip ons. The bolt passes through the ball itself, very neat and tidy. The pack comes with three lengths of bolt. Works perfectly.   9. Have to admit, I hadn't had a bike for 24 years, bought a 1200, albeit an ancient 1200,and was really surprised at insurance for about £350. Then it dawned on me that I'm "getting on a bit". Which wasn't a nice feeling. We still have all that speed and power between our legs, it's just that, now it's mechanical.
  10. Now, I'm quite technically minded, and pretty happy with spanners, just recently replaced the disks and pads on my car in fact, but I've never done a caliper strip and rebuild of a bike. Any advice? About 200 miles ago, I topped up the brake fluid, and I find I need to do it again. There are no leaks at any of the banjos, and from what I can see with a torch, the pads are a bit low. Couple the above with my bike having sat in a workshop corner for more than a year, and I figure I should give those front calipers some TLC as there could be a seized piston or leaky seal. I thought I'd start by removing the reservoir lid and removing the bottom banjos to drain the fluid, then loosen as much as possible whilst still attached to the forks, before removing to strip and clean.

  16. No way I'm removing any armour. My off was a minicab from the right side. It hit me so hard the exhausts were bent under the bike, the forks twisted, the swing-arm bent, foot-peg and brake lever sheared. I was wearing good leathers with armour and summersaulted over the bars and landed on the back of my head/shoulders. My boots (which had more buckles than Clarkes) saved my foot from going under the bike with the exhaust whilst I did my aerobatics. Whatever those statics were he quoted, they had nothing to do with me.

  19. Good morning. Our first foal of the year had arrived. Born in under 15 minutes, and up on her feet in less than 30 minutes.
  20. As suggested by @S-Westerly there are various products. I would start with just some standard T-cut, smear a little on with any cloth, and just keep rubbing in overlapping circles until you have your result, then buff with something like a microfibre cloth. As with any of these products, test a small area first. It would be wise to treat restored areas with something like a ceramic coating for protection. I just saw all this stuff in Halfords, so it's not just for pro's...
