  1. Compression test would seem in order to me......last time I was asked to fix one with similar problems the piston had virtually melted....new barrel and piston required and promptly fitted...
  2. This is only possible because one of the owners has Gumption and common sense......If only she could teach that to the other.....
  3. I just saw this lost soul driving back and forth past my home and thought I'd better help him....lol Common fault.....as the connector had been pushed together it had been done properly and it had forced one of the connectors out leaving a gap which caused arcing and eventual burning and failure.. Pleased to help a fellow TMBF member ...

  5. Isen't that the point of most bikers? I'm not having a go here but.... There is nothing wrong with fear......It's only a bad thing if the fear controls you.....The late great James Hunt used to puke up before every race.... A controlled fear helps keep you alive, it improves your decision making abilities etc. It's those who say they have no fear that put the bike down the road due to not allowing the controlled fear to tell them they are barrelling too fast in to a bend etc. Not a rant just some common sense.....
  6. There is a simple rule when biking..........YOU GO WHERE YOU LOOK...... and that applies at all times...
  7. Sorry to hear about your dad mate Try to wait as long as you can for the third thing....don't tempt fate eh...
  8. I would be interested to know what you are being told in terms of doing a U-turn? Are you keeping the revs up? Are you using the rear brake to control the speed? Are you making sure that you turning your head and looking where you want the bike to go?
  9. Sounds logical Captain.....it's either that or the Klingon's are off the starboard bow......
  10. Yeah I think I'll go with this... it's only a fiver. Have you used it? How long did it last if so? No I have never used it...I always changed the rad....but then I was in the trade at the time....it does work if you follow the instructions carefully....will last for ages but may cause the motor to run hotter depending on how blocked the rad is.....Ive seen a guy punch holes in a rad with a large screwdriver and pore this stuff in and it sealed within a minute...
  11. Radweld works.....you can buy it in most car shops
  12. You would be better off installing a relay to provide the switch circuit, than wire it into the side light circuit...
  13. That just takes perseverance! It's not so hard when you take it in small, logical steps. Yes Mr Spock....
  14. You may need to check the float level...also it could be sticking....take the carb off and make sure...
  15. The offer is there mate...np.....BTW....most elctrical faults are due to a poor earth...
  16. I seriously doubt if its the cush drive or the chain as they are in use in every gear not just second... I would start think gearbox issue....that's presuming it only does this in second..
  17. If you wanted to ride over to me near Lincoln mate we could go through it together with my knowledge and multimeter... Just let me know
  18. It's certainly not for everybody....and why should it be....there are plenty of good riders out there. It's just a recognition of a certain standard of riding. I'm really pleased I did it, I've learnt a lot, yet I was perfectly happy riding as I was. I needed another challenge and now I need another...lol. I will be consolidating what I've learnt over the last few months then I might take the next step to becoming an observer myself. I like helping people
  19. Managed to pass my IAM test yesterday... Great fun.....lovely rides over a period of weeks.... I would recommend it to anyone who is interested but not everyone will be...

  22. I personally think the problem 1st to Neutral is a common G/box issue with Suzuki's...I had the same problem with my SV and sometimes have the same with my Strom....I don't worry about it...
