  1. My parents were from the "wrap them in cotton wool" school of thought, so naturally me and my brother were the odd ones out at school with great grades and almost no practical skills, until we both went off the rails as much as possible at the earliest opportunity If I ever have kids I'm going to make a point of not raising them the way my parents brought me up, children need to be told no once in a while and shown the value of hard work... and none of this "if you hit them back you're as bad as they are" crap that turns victims into defenceless nervous wrecks. I'd keep most of their core values, though. They're genuine progressives, none of this politically correct shite, and I'm glad I was brought up in that. Taught me that you don't shit on people if they don't deserve it. Then I learned for myself that when they do, you have a f**king vindaloo first
  2. Someone needs to be very worried right now
  3. Yaaay after ten billion hours trying to remember my paypal password and then having to reset the damn thing yet again I've finally succeeded in making a donation
  4. That is the saddest thing I've seen all day Yeah I'll donate, it's been a while since I last overpaid for the rally
  5. My school still used the "catch a nigger" version of eenie meenie minie mo. So if anything I'm quite considerate.
  6. Your school disgusts me
  7. You've probably just offended Hoggs by implying green is a bad thing.
  8. Just had an email from Amazon about one of the presents I ordered - telling me it's suddenly out of stock and they've cancelled my order! Funny how since I ordered it they deleted the listing and re-added it under a new URL with exactly the same description and photos but seven times the price! Funnier yet, the seven times as expensive but otherwise identical version is showing as having plenty in stock
  9. They deliver pretty darn quickly, too.
  10. Well, to be fair, I do feel like there is an indirect link to Trump's election - but even if you give it enough credit to assume it's a key factor, you can't really suggest it is the entire cause as I've seen some commentators suggest. A generalisation like that would be a bit dismissive of the people who voted for him - and I still think that the huge mistake the Left is continuing to make in the US is to tar the entire Trump supporter base with the same brush rather than try to identify what brought them together in the first place and attempt to win back the moderates among them. It's similar to this "Alt-Right" buzzword that keeps flying around; depending on who you hear using it, it seems to encompass anyone from hardcore swastika-on-forehead neo-Nazis through to people who read an article on Breitbart maybe just once. Sticking one label on everyone whose political views you don't like doesn't combat them, it forces them together - forces the moderates into the waiting arms of the radicals. But anyway, back to what you said: I get the impression that American voters found themselves in a position where they had two major candidates, one who was outspoken on PC issues (and outspokenly in favour of backing them with legislation) and another who wasn't. Trump never needed to announce himself as an opponent of Political Correctness, his actions have already spoken pretty loudly and to be honest it wouldn't even be necessary. All he needed was to be "the other option" running against someone like Clinton, and he had a good shot at scooping up a huge chunk of the "pro free speech" vote, the "people scared of being persecuted for accidentally offending other people" vote, and quite frankly the "I'm getting sick of hearing about this PC thing, it's getting goddamn ridiculous" vote. And of course, a good chunk of those people probably didn't have much to genuinely worry about - but the election process was marred by the same thing that seems to send most debates of Political Correctness waaaay off track: a lack of proper debate. The "progressive" side constantly demonstrate a lack of willingness/ability to engage in discussion with anyone who isn't 100% behind them. And then there's this idiotic thing people have started doing of going out of their way to destroy people's lives via the medium of the internet if they dare to say something that challenges their views. Tl;dr: I think that the build up to the American election turned their political landscape into even more of an echo chamber than usual; the left was unwilling to listen and preferred to reaffirm their opinions to one another while criticising the character of anyone outside their little sphere, and that forced all of the right and a good chunk of the center into a chamber of their own where the truly god awful minority among them poisoned the minds of the rest with fear and anger. And THEN, Trump happened. Not so much with Farage; his problem with PC culture only appears to stretch so far as anything he feels was imposed on us by Europe. Most of our sins - arresting people for saying mean things online, and the likes - were home grown. I'm sure that being the filthy populist he is, he's spoken out about the issue at some point to certain people... but he probably said the opposite to a different group later that same day I think it's a whole different debate relating to the social undertones of Brexit, and I'm not touching that with a 50 foot pole until I'm firmly outside of these borders
  11. Tried CMPO yet? https://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/
  12. WELP I've spent a good part of my evening trying to improve my understanding of all this, the opinions behind it, and the social issues underpinning the whole thing. I have come to a number of understandings: 1. Sex, gender and sexual orientation can be mutually exclusive: - Sex is what bits you have - Gender is what you feel like on the inside (no disemboweling required) - Sexual orientation is what you want to get kinky with 2. All this pronoun bollocks relates to gender, not the other two 3. "He" is fine, "She" is fine, "They" is fine 4. It's a bit of a dick move to insist on calling someone the wrong thing after they've told you which they identify as 5. Literally everyone who expects to be asked what their preferences are as a courtesy can f**k off, that's idiotic, your feelings do not have rights 6. Anyone who insists on "Ze", "Xe", or any other made up bullshit, can do one and is going to get "they", because this is also idiotic 7. Dear god I hate everyone and I will probably just waterboard the next person that talks to me about this stuff no matter what their opinion is I would love to say that this who experience has helped me grow as a person but mostly it's just made me realise that political correctness has become completely socially regressive and is beginning to erode freedom of speech and expression.
  13. Well, you'll certainly be able to tell which it is once you've got the top off
  14. Pfft that's just the norm these days! Screwing over everyone else who is already having to deal with their own version of that is just a dick move. But back on topic... Dear (secret) Santa, I have been a very good boy this year and anything Stu says to the contrary is a filthy lie. My rear wheel has a 4.60 - 18 rim and is happiest when running a Dunlop D606 ( but we could probably slum it with a Heidenau K60). And remember, the £10 limit is more of a guideline than a law
  15. I've never felt the need to try doing a burnout, but I can only imagine that if I did there'd be knobbles flying off in all directions
  16. Genius idea! I'd pinch it, if it weren't for the fact that I almost need a new rear tyre and I'm almost due for a service but I reckon I can drag it out to my next pay cheque if I keep my riding down to just the essential stuff
  17. Well worth it, it's a cracking bit of road with a couple of hairpins. I quite fancy cycling it too, or even trying the 125. Hell of a climb on a push bike though! Worth it for the view at the top. There's a campsite just at the bottom of the hill as you enter Applecross which has wooden camping huts. They're heated and all you need is a sleeping bag. Up to 4 can share one. The Applecross Inn is a good wee pub too, the food is excellent and it's literally about 100 yards from the campsite if you take the short cut (steep muddy hill!). If you find yourself over that way again, swing by the photography gallery and tell the owner that Ollie says Canon sucks
  18. Better yet, now Argos delivery drivers are saying they're going to strike in the run up to Christmas too... Swear to god these union bast*rds do absolutely nothing to engender sympathy to their cause among the public
  19. Mine was riding cross country to Llangynog, sleeping in an abandoned building, spending a day tearing around an enduro course and an MX track, back to the abandoned building again (by way of the pub and joining the festivities for the last night of the British Downhill Series), then riding back home again via a few green lanes. Great fun and I didn't even cripple myself in the process - or the bike! Nothing like the distances you lot have done, but it's still a fair adventure on a little dirt bike
  20. I'm not telling anyone what my Gamertag and SteamID are.
  21. Hey, it was Mawsley that wanted to ban you. Don't look at me.
  22. That Glorian kid is all mine though
  23. I am just trying to figure that out myself! can we claim for new tyres, chain and sprockets, heated grips? Oh sod it I will put it down anyway stuff the lot of them
  24. And we can once and for all make this place Chinese bikes only!
  25. I can't wait till either of us wins we can then flee the country with all the money
