  1. No idea, I haven't spoken to a hooker to find out where they are from! But seriously, yes, Torrevieja used to be a shit hole with a bad reputation. Over the last decade the town has worked hard to clean up, modernise and has spent millions (of your tax euros it has to be said) making it a far friendlier and pleasing place to live. The front has been re built with the pedestrianization of many areas and traders returning to fill the empty commercial centres. The investment by both Government and the private sector has pushed it well into the top of the league for places that are booming here in Spain and no, not like the old days of guns and bombs lol.
  2. I have been here many years and no matter where I go, the scenery and epic roads just keep coming. All year riding and plenty of quiet roads, Spain as is as you say biking heaven. My limited funds don't allow travel very far but there is plenty to see in the Murcia and Alicante regions.
  3. Some bikes you love from the off, others do take some time. Maybe, due to your lack of bikes owned it is difficult to say if this is how you should be. I would stick with it for now, if you have a summer out of it and are still not sure, then you should think about a replacement.
  4. Wonder how those things called, what is it again...oh yes,..cars, will be affected. Some of them can crack a wall with their through exhausts. Also, best place to site them is out in the sticks. More chance of saying which bike it was offending and not in a city where there are bikes everywhere and you find yourself pinned for nothing you did.
  5. Glad you enjoyed it. I use VSDC Free version, it is packed with features many others charge for. There are few limitations, supports every file format I have heard of and it runs very well on an old PC like mine. It is consistently rated in the top levels of lists by the reviewers. Wags tail..
  6. Our club's Sunday ride this month was to the mountain range of Sierra Espuña. Forests and narrow roads serve to give bikers an amazing ride. Sorry about the bug on the lens. I broke the first rule of camera work, keep it clean! https://youtu.be/5D_1ZGQZWuw
  7. I bought a cheap as chips model off ebay, works a treat. Given the current trend among certain old van drivers in our area to back into a car and claim they were shunted, it is a worthwhile investment.
  8. Took my name from the pickups on my Les Paul guitar. It just sounded better than Single Coil, the variant on the Fender, which makes me sound like some sort of contraception device....
  9. I was sure I posted up part two. Old age is creeping in, sigh. Anyway, here are the last two parts. Graphic violence in the third part. You have been warned. Part Two: https://youtu.be/b5Nxd-vGCw8 Part Three: https://youtu.be/ZVHn84TPHJk
  10. Thanks. There will be one maybe 2 more from this trip as well
  11. Sorry I have been very quiet in the forums, I am making an effort to be more active now. Anyway, my club had their first trip recently, sadly I couldn't go but I am putting the video together. Jaw dropping scenery, waterfalls and general rideness within. The intro is well over the top but I had a blast making it and working it all out. As always, if you like the videos, please plonk a like or subscribe to help the channel. https://youtu.be/fkT1Jr6QuRc
  12. Agreed, that Sunday was bad but it is so localised. One town is bathed in sunshine, the next has cars floating down the streets.
  13. Yes, the majority of us are full time. There are some who split their time between here and their home countries and some who just come along when on holiday. A very mixed bag of nationalities as well.
  14. A short video of our ride to a mountain village last Sunday. Weather played it's part, the rain does NOT always stay mainly on the plain. https://youtu.be/UXrWmKQlVpM
  15. Our latest club run last Sunday, altered somewhat due to cyclists wanting to ride through our destination. Still a great day. if you like the video I would be really grateful if you share it. I love showing people where I ride. https://youtu.be/HMuwulWrhO4
  16. All hard nosed bikers like nothing better than looking at trees. Right? https://youtu.be/N8YuR5Qfy5Q
  17. I put together a review of my club's special trips for the year to various places around Spain where we are based. https://youtu.be/4nxaXhVQ1wc
  18. The last two parts of my Dawn till Dusk trek in Southern Spain are here for your viewing pleasure. They are both under 5 minutes long, feature some amazing scenery and points of interest in Southern Spain and tips on how to eat a banana. Part Three: https://youtu.be/qGqpTVhnqHs part Four:https://youtu.be/mh48_BHC--U
  19. Parts 1 & 2 of a series from where I live in Spain. We did our last dawn till dusk ride of the year a couple of weeks ago. 345 miles 13 hours of amazing scenery and roads. https://youtu.be/OXTiTyi2l6M https://youtu.be/l751cpEokpk
  20. At the point that the shopkeeper took hold of the man, the full elements of 'theft' would have been very hard to prove. The intention to permanently deprive may have been there but could you get a case past a jury, or even magistrates based on what you saw? Seriously doubt it. I dont give a rats ass what the shopkeeper's religion or culture says, the law of the UK, if that is where it took place, is what counts and what he did was way and beyond reasonable force in the course of preventing a crime from being committed. Imagine if the Police 'did' treat anyone like that? The papers this morning would have been full of horror stories about how a man with mental health issues was beaten by them, Police state etc, blah blah. If that shopkeeper thinks that posting this is some sort of crime fighting hero worship of himself, he may well find this all goes horribly wrong for him. And I hope it does. I fully understand that running a business is tough and thieves make life a misery, but I wonder if the caped crusader would behave like that when a bunch of chavs come in and start stripping his shelves?
  21. I have to promote Spain! Many holiday makers who stay in our area have tried Turkey and say it is the place of dreams or nightmares. Las Vegas was the best holiday I ever had, not for everyone but they have something for everyone. Los Angeles is a shit hole and there isn't anything near anywhere else. Cancun is amaaaazing fun. Safari to Kenya is an expensive way of staying in a tent, being dragged out of bed at stupid o'clock, driving in a suspension deficient viewing vehicle and watching a Giraffe have a piss. Jamaica is ok if you like your hotel and love guided tours away from it. France is expensive, the people in the south are total shits but the people in the middle are brilliant.
  22. Agree with you Mr Fro. I have noticed though, and maybe it is old age creeping in, that German cars are twat magnets. I am NOT saying that all German car owners are one, but it seems that all dickheads drive German cars.
  23. Yep, I wear mine, 31 years after we were wed. But then, I come from the last generation where we stuck together through all the things that can tear a couple apart. We didn't go running to solicitors the first time we had a tiff.
  24. At that age they know that their next stop is a 'retirement' home. Well, they know that in prison they will get a hot meal twice a day, daily access to medical facilities, won't be left lying in their own shit for a day because some minimum wage temp can't be bothered to clean them up, they will be warm, have a clean room. a library and activities laid on and cost them f.a. and won't have to sell their houses to pay for their care. Care, hah what a f**king laugh. Not much of a choice if you ask me. Crime doesn't pay? My arse.
  25. Steal his thunder. Anytime time where he would go in with his line, say you are a learner and your mate has a full licence. Say it enough times and he will ask you why you keep saying that. Then you can not only tell him how stupid its sounds, but he will know how stupid it sounds. That or kick him in the bollocks.
