  1. What am I missing? I buy a €15 phone, it makes calls, it receives calls. It sends and receives text messages. This one has lasted three years, not a single problem. I dont want facebook, BBC news and a game about squashing sweets and all that guff on my phone, I've managed fifty something years without them but as someone on here said, we get sucked up into the marketing hype. I went out without it the other day and I didn't burst into flames, the Earth did not fall into the sun and Victoria Beckham did not smile so nothing amazing happened. I see families sat in our local cafe, on holiday and what are they doing? Well, they aint bloody talking, laughing and enjoying the sun, they are all staring at their phones! Who owns who? Yours truly Adin O'Saur.
  2. I love a happy beginning Wish you all the best, gawd bless us each and every one!
  3. Happeee birthday Hope you have a great day. Thank you for the encouragement about riding, I am back on two wheels again.
  4. They have arrested the property owner for throwing his garden in front of a Police vehicle.
  5. Thankfully we still have smaller supermarkets, locally owned. More like corner shops on steroids, if you get my drift. Many people still use smaller shops, the old fashioned way, but there are huge hypermarkets if that is your thing. If you want your meat fresh, they even have live chickens for you to point and and say 'kill that one!' or words to that effect. Go back next and there it is, all ready for the barbie or your paella. One day I will write a blog of life just five miles in from the Costa del Concrete, it is a fascinating world.
  6. Fair enough, thanks for that Seems like a good idea on a Portsmouth Santander ferry, but a train?
  7. Maybe I have swalled too many stupid pills, but what enviroment requires a bog with a magnet on it?
  8. My daughter lives in Plymouth so I will happily volunteer myself to check both sides of the border. The winner will always get a helmet removal.
  9. Surely it all depends on left or right corner and if you are wearing a hi viz jacket? I shall check the topic about which way people favour, it could be important. Counter steering is a load of bollocks anyway, when I wheel my bike out of the drive onto the road, pushing in the opposite direction sends it that way.
  10. So, that's settled. 1. If you want a sausage roll, find somewhere where the staff are in their fifties or 2. Phone Ohjay and ask him to ride with you to the petrol station and get him to go in and pay. (Top bloke if he does that ) Who would have thought a sausage roll could cause such controversy.
  11. Nicely done! You say in your opening sentence that you don't know what it was. It was your state of mind. On your first attempt, the lad with everything had you already doubting your ability before you started. Free of that on the second attempt you concentrated on your riding and found the confidence. It is always a case of whether you say you can or cannot, you are porbably right. Good luck with the riding.
  12. I have made into my fifties so I am thinking it will be a pain in the chest, more pain in the chest, arm goes numb...omg omg this is it....huge fart...phew that feels better. Stand up and get hit by a bus. Have to say I am rapidly approaching the days when I wake up, dont feel wood either side of me and say thank god for that.* *Stolen from a comedian I saw in a club once.
  13. Left it yesterday as I was fed up of the howling wind and being sprayed in the face with engine oil. All sorted this morning. Once again, appreciate your help. Next time it will be straightforward. Assuming I havent bought that VFR 800 I keep eyeing up.
  14. Got it, thanks Chris. I went and had a proper look after reading that and it was in a separate housing on the other side of the engine block. I always wondered what was under there! Muchas gracias *edit* I have just found a spring that came out of the hi flo filter housing. Yes I have refilled it with oil already. Do I need to drain it all out again and yet again, daft question, where does this spring go? Learning by monkey see monkey do here.
  15. I am doing my first oil change on my Daelim 125 and I bought a hiflo filter as it said this was the one for my engine. On removing the sump plug and spring, I see a gauze thimble shaped filter in there. Have I wasted my money or do I replace the gauze one with the hi flo? I know this is going to sound really dumb but I have never done this before, which way round would I insert the hi flo filter. Thanks for any advice and help.
  16. You are right that it demonises us but that is part and parcel of our increasingly paranoid society. Look at the faff getting on an aeroplane, we are all looked upon as potential terrorists, we cannot record nativity plays of our children because of paedophiles, you cannot even open a bank account without a photo of your birth, you cannot carry out cash transactions over £10k without one hell of a stink. One bank even asks you why you are withdrawing more than £500...the list goes on. The 24 hr news hytseria from the media has convinced us that the world we live in is falling apart and so we face constant challenges to our decency and law abiding lives. To offset this fear of imminent implosion of the universe, companies shield themselves against every conceivable threat, some real, some imagined but if they want the insurance cover then that is what they have to do and as a consequence, so do we.
  17. I used Camrider at Peterborough, got me through everything first time. I would highly recommend them and the right side of town for you as well.
  18. Yes I saw that. Maybe they thought he was wearing a bhurka under the helmet.
  19. Whatever you do, do not try and use that as a defence to the definition of 'dishonest'. I would suggest you would even struggle to rely on the defence that you had reasonable grounds to assume that it was your property or that you thought you had a right to it. As has been stated, the goods are there as an 'offer to treat' in order to make a purchase, or a contract in legal parlance. Your putting something on the counter and wishing to pay is that part covered. Your action of taking the sausage roll to the counter and them refusing to sell it to you doesn't form a contract. You are both entitled to say at that point, 'No thanks, deal is off.' The sausage roll remains their property and so if you walk out with it, you are stealing it. Sorry mate but that's how it goes. This is one of those mixes of civil and criminal law. When I sudied law many years ago there was even some mention of walking into a shop, leaving the money on the counter and walking out again as not being legally binding since the seller had no chance to accept or refuse your offer. HTH
  20. Get well soon. I would love to clean your bike but it's a little bit too far at the moment. Hope the op was succesful for you as well.
  21. Until we get our settlement from the Insurance company for some brainless dick who t boned our car in the UK last year, we are driving a Daihatsu Sirion. I had to drive this little b*st*rd 1400 miles to Spain and will have to drive it back when we receive our money and can buy a local car. And my wife says that riding a bike to Spain would be uncomfortable. I looked like the Hunchback of Notredamme for three days after we arrived in this kindly borrowed roller skate.
  22. If you have the time, go and see for yourself prior to the test so you know the layout. Best of luck
  23. So you now know what is expected of you. Next time, you will be better prepared. Did you fall on the theory or hazard perception?
  24. I agree with cockercas, youtube distorts all the angles, widths etc. The fact that you are going to the test centre area to practice is a great idea. I did that the day before my mod 1 last year and it helped a lot knowing the layout and speeds etc for the various sections. The avoidance isn't something to worry about as you will see when you get there. As with most things in life, the waiting is worse than the event. Best of luck with it, let us know how you get on
