  1. Going to be totally sexist here and I apologise for any offence but I think the biggest hazard on the road are women in short skirts/tight jeans/big boobs/white Ts hirts with any sized boobs, walking along the pavement. How many of you have not at some point broken your hard concentration (no pun intended) and been distracted by that?
  2. At my age, an itchy ear may be a sign of hair growing, one of the few places it still grows. So you can never win by shaking your head violently and scaring road users around you. You have no choice but to pull over and deal with it. Mind you, the head shaking bit means you clear a path for yourself through the traffic.
  3. Women who pluck out their eyebrows, (guys, it is NOT easy) and then draw them back in with a pencil.
  4. I've been playing guitar since I was...erm...well since the world was in black & white, got my fist geetar in 1972. My first electric had twin humbucker pickups which mean they cancel out the hum from the electric coils & stuff and I used it as my CB handle back in the early 80's. I have been looking for a way of using it since, so here it is! Oh yes & I still play guitar.
  5. Since taking my DAS, mod 1 & 2 last year I am far more aware of Bikers and where they will be when I am driving my car. I also look out for filtering, for those who have never ridden a bike, it isnt something they tend to look out for. For that, I am a far more 'aware' driver and also study the road surface with more care. Head checks, yeah I do those as well but that isnt a bad thing in a car, you just never know.
  6. Just the one for now but I have been looking for a mid sized bike. Not cheap in Spain and most of the stock is on it's last legs. I think someone needs to suggest service intervals.
  7. I have a nostalgic love for CB750's going back to the mid '70's. I cannot wait to see this project, keep going Mr T, this is going to be awesome!
  8. It is sometimes possible to use the test centre mod 1 compound after they have finished with it for the day. You would then be familiar with the real thing. No harm in asking if you can use it/hire it.
  9. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isnt it the best feeling? Clean sheet you clever chap
  10. Goes to me. Went for a ride into the Pine forests near Orihuela this morning and parked the bike up for a good look over the valley towards some mountains. I decided the incline the bike was parked sideways on was shallow enough to use the side stand. Wrong. Crunch, down it goes. A few broken things due to stupidity and laziness but the hardest lessons learned are the ones never forgotten.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions. I took the wheel end off yetsreday and it doesnt look good, so I have new one on the way. Every cloud has a silver lining
  12. Out and about the other day I noticed that the needle on the speedo has started to shake from side to side, only a little around the point it is trying to settle on. Also, the odometer and trip have stopped turning. I unscrewed the cable and it looked okay and re seated it but the problem is no better. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
  13. I passed my Mod 2 last October but there were a few things that happened and I wanted to let prospective mod 2 students know that it aint over 'till it's over. The test started badly at Peterborough test centre where your first trial is merging onto a main road as soon as you leave the small road fromt eh gates. The traffic was backed up in both directions and a driver was frantically waving me out, I could see there were cyclists and the like coming so I waited. The examiner coughed that 'are we going to sit here all day?' cough. Oh dear. A while later he told me to pull over when it was safe to do so. I could not see anywhere I considered safe so I continued, only to receive a harsh coment about not obeying his instructions. Oh dear No 2. I did pull over when it was safe and we were all square again. I got shouted at for taking the wrong turning, he had definitely said the next left but I stayed calm, rode as if I had passed but by now assumed it was a waste of time and for the rest of the test, nothing untoward happened. We arrived back at the centre and I shook my head as I passed my instructor, and waited for the verdict. When he told me I had passed I could have fallen through the chair. My instructor listened to my account and agreed that I had done nothing dangerous, nor illegal and so the examiner was being a bit tetchy. The moral is, NEVER give up. I could have thought, 'Ah bollocks to this' and ridden like a dick but I stuck at it, kept my cool and got through. Good luck to all who are training up for the mod 2. I hope this little story helps.
