  1. Fill your fuel tank up properly My CBR stops the pump usually with 4 litres or so to go, on all the ER's, Xj's (street/sports tourer bikes) I could just slog in a lot of lites. On my sports bikes Ive found fuelling to be more delicate. I didnt top my CBR all the way to the top a few weeks back and looked in horror as the reserve came on at 90 miles

    Gilera SC125 advice

Only way to tell would be to look very closely at your own rear caliper and then compare it to the picture! If it looks the same then it is very likely to be the same. As long as the mounting points are the same and its the same spec as the caliper on there then its good

    Gilera SC125 advice

You need part number: CM074101 This is the entire rear caliper and can be bought for £50. Or you can spend a little less and buy the following, go to a Gilera dealer and give them these part names: 1. Rear caliper bleed nipple (they wear out quick on the little bikes) 2. Rear caliper brake seals 3. Rear caliper piston Then, take off your rear caliper. Blow the piston out, take the seal out. Clean thoroughly with brake fluid or if done with anything else remember to wash with brake fluid afterwards. Fit the new parts soaking the new seal in the fluid before hand and on dip the piston before fitting so it slips over the seal ok. Done
  4. Ive used Goodridge and Hel Both were as good as each other so you made the right call hopefully
  5. Good work there, with this kind of work the pictures make it look as if very little has been done but the time taken to do it goes into the hours Keep it up
  6. If you want to get your hands greasy you need to change the bulbs to H4 connections and do some wiring... Then meddle with the alignment of the high beam side so that it points and illuminates the same patch as the low beam. Some can do this, others cannot so be warned and check this out first. Or take out the reflectors and fit HID projectors. Then wire the live into both live feeds for dipped beam on the H4 connectors. Wire the live for the high beam feed into the high beam connector on the H4's. And send both down to the same black negative line. You may need to up rate the wiring and use relays to run this system. Or you could leave it how it is, its actually easier than it sounds. I've done it to a CBR600RR before and it was alright. Passed MOT too
  7. Fill out your location before you ask others otherwise it makes people nervous
  8. Its just one component under the seat Unplug one and plug in the other. You can get them for a reasonable price on ebay
  9. LOL, probably not!! He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy! I dislike the alarms myself, had one on a couple of bikes, they usually show up when a battery is reaching the end of its working life. So maybe its time to swap the battery in the GSXR for a nice new one
  10. Have been out on the bike and making friends, only looking forward and not back Trained up two girls on 125s and now they're going in for their test soon. They grow up so fast But on the other hand one is my girlfriend who has enough money to buy whatever bike she pleases... This means I will be slogging around on a 600 while she could have a Ducati if she wanted Damn! Life should see steady improvement, I'm kitting out my garage this weekend and I'm getting 2 project bikes tonight. Happy days!
  11. Basically find your wires for the head light... With a H4 you usually have two lives and one negative lead. The two live do either low or high beam, refer to a Haynes manual or a wiring diagram so you can identify which. Wire each one, low beam live and high beam live to a relay each. On the switched end of the relay have some 6amp cable and run that to your connector, then run the negative back to the battery and you should be done
  12. Getting irate over a few things lately. A little back history, my friends today and my old friend groups from high school think I am too nice, I let people get away too much. And they also think that has changed. So in the last couple of months I have had people I had forgotten about in a college I went to in London contact me to poke some fun. They heard some things and thought it was all still going on. I have already forgotten why I was nice to these people... I get a letter that was oddly timed I suspected it was testing the water somewhat from someone i never want to talk to again. As While they know my work address and my last known address which a friend forwards me things I am angry they sent it to my parents house to receive. They have contacted my parents before in what me and my parents see as them most inappropriate thing to do possible. Solution? Well reasoning just feeds the fire, ignoring hasnt worked. So I had to resort to being low. I just used people I know go running back to tell on me when I say something bad. I ragged on them, and sure enough ive been blocked, and left alone by all. I was doing fine, I stopped caring about all the damage reaped. Just leave me alone f**k it
  13. And when in doubt offer a packet of crisps Got me £50 off a bike recently after he had gone down as far as he was willing to go.
  14. Give it to Stu, I've seen bits and bobs hes done and he knows what hes on about with brakes. Just give him the parts and some money for a bacon butty and a cup of tea afterwards and he'll have had a good little morning in the garage probably
  15. Are the calipers 6 pot or 4 pot Alex? As in are there 6 pistons or 4 in each caliper? Megawatt - If they are 6 pot same as will have been on your 1200 bandit If they are 4 pot they will look like this: http://bikebreakers.ie/images/suzuki-bandit600-front-brake-caliper-left.jpg

    misfire

4 Years!!! Think you need to service the whole lot then check again to see if the misfire is there! I'd be doing valves, filters, oil and plugs.
  17. Pop into newbies and introduce yourself. We like people who say hello And you want Honda CB500 Honda XR - Any size above 250cc Suzuki GS500 Kawasaki GPZ500 Kawasaki KLE500 Honda Transalp - Old version Any of these I've seen around the £500 mark. I just bought a running GPZ500 for £200 and even a FZR600 that just needs a gasket change for £600
  18. Can it be bump started? Run with it in 2nd and pump the clutch and see what happens. Its just sounding seized to me A clicking noise would be the relay, a buzz sounds like my RS when I seized the top end solid.

    Bike won't start

Check your kill switch? Some bikes turn over but have no spark in this situation.

    misfire

You did swap the spark plugs when you did this didnt you? Also if coils go they can sometimes break the ECU as has happened across a couple of bikes. So i'd replace that as a matter of course Cheap one can be found on ebay
  21. Too late now, shes bought 4 litres of car oil Should be alright in a 125 I should have thought. Its not anywhere as hot or fast running as a sports bikes so hopefully it is all good. Ahh part of the ligament survived. Now be really careful, my dad had the same situation but took out the rest of it when he put his bike on the side stand And if they offer an op to fix it properly take it as it makes a good difference when you get older!

    race brakes

All bikes corrode in someway or another. The 2 winters on mine has made some of the aluminium bits pit but the hel lines which I have front and back are great. I put them on in time with carbon lorraine pads and have to say the bike got about 30% more braking power and a sharper feel as my brakes arent the greatest. Reckon its a 4 pot setup on the Bandit too so you and boothy should be in the same boat as me.
  23. Thats interesting, he's the bloke who owns the ebay shop I linked! Good to see he actually has a proper website. Usually implies hes more reliable
  24. I've used the above when I was fixing an old Ninja 250 loom... I had to strip out some wiring as someone did a terrible bodge job. Worked fine and the whole loom was fixed. Polevolt are good but when I ordered I managed to get a hefty bill. I didnt use the waterproof one, on the KTM I would as it sounds like your going to be hitting the green lanes so yes. But for every day use if you have a good faired bike or the routing keeps it dry from rain then I wouldn't worry about using the special ones I'm adding this to my blog I think, ive done so much bike electrics before
  25. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-SUZUKI- ... 43b88197ed Wiring and stuff is easy to attain from any supplier like rapid, RS, maplins. All you need is the size of the conductor of the general wiring and with that you are set to go. I used the above kit and there is other good stuff in his shop that will help you do a full rewire. Its lasted well too as the rear of the loom on my bike is custom made by me using bits from it!
