I have to agree with the OP some of the instructors take the Mic with the amount of training required before doing MOD1. Being told that yo would need to do the same amount of training having had your CBT and 2000 miles under your belt as you needed when you had not ridden a motorbike in the UK does not in my mind add up...

I have a few Christmas songs lost in my phones several thousand I listen to when I am riding. Some days I enjoy them but that is not normally between March and October when you have not been force fed them..... I worked in Trinidad for a whilst and they had 100 days of Christmas on the radio.... Day no 1 they allowed them selves 1 song in 24 hour hours and built it up.... As it seems here its lets get Halloween over so we can start Christmas in full...

Motorcycle Live 2015 — Birmingham NEC, Nov 28th - Dec 6th
onesea replied to Cam's topic in Biking events
I was looking at riding up but decided 3 hours up and 3 hours down and the show is a bit much and it will riding in the dark and no fun Motorway and A34.... So Plan B was required.... A little bit of thinking says train form Bicester to NEC is £20 and I have somewhere to stay in Bicester So I can go to the show and have a beer as well It was cheaper to take the Landy from here than the train and thats for just one of me... -

Looks like I am going the first Monday and maybe Tuesday (I have not been before is it worth 2 days?). I am going whilst misses is at work as her and daughter will not appreciate and will only want to leave after 5 minutes... Like Cam looking at boots as mine seem to hold more water in than out.... -
I found it most usefull for cleaning bugs of in the summer as well... For me it works well in the rain but when its only spray and fine drizzle it never clears...

onesea replied to mailee66's topic in Motorbike Sat Nav, Bluetooth headsets and communication device Reviews
I have been having to use this for the last month and I continue to love to hate it... Its Sat Nav taken back several years compared with google BUT it does work offline... You can put Custom POI's in if you do a bit of googling (a bit fiddly), it can be helpful (Challenge 100). It will give you speed camera warnings IF you are using it to navigate. Can you set it so your speed on the road is the speed limit on that road, custom speeds just annoy me... If you set a route with several stops it does not tell you when you are at a midway stop (just a verbal warning would be nice). -
I am going to award NOTD to 2 guys on Mountain bikes... So there me and daughter are (her at 8 on first ride on bike with gears) on a Cycle track not on the road... Just getting our confidence up changing gears and 2 Lycra louts come haring along the cycle track shouting "too the left too the left"... Daughter scared moves to the right, luckily I check and join her before two go racing passed. Had we not been coordinated they could not of stopped..... 100 yards up the road we pass a couple with a dog, who are trying to calm it down as having being scared sh1tless by the last bikes wants to attack the next... For the next mile or so all the people we passed where not happy with bikes....

put your gloves inside? gloves have enough of a problem being waterproof without them being worn over sleeves Yup then when riding the water just goes up between the glove and jacket your whole arm ends up wet... I have tried inside I have tried outside and latest gloves have solved the problem... Dianese and Richa both have a type with double cuffs, they are not the easiest to put on but do keep your hands dry...

I have had mine apart and given the liners a quick rinse under tap not had much success. Any reason I should not try some fabrize??

Following from the thread about sweaty gloves, having ridding a bit in the damp of the last week. It seems I have developed a smelly helmet... I think the problem is its not getting chance to fully dry between rides, it fits so much better than my other helmet I am reluctant to use the other one. Plus I do not want to prat around moving Bluetooth around... So how do you store/ maintain a helmet to stop it getting wet and smelly... As important.... How do you dry the foam overnight having just taken it apart washed it (gently in fresh water) before tomorrows outing Gloves it seems I have acquired a fetish for having 5 pairs (do not tell the misses ), I can switch between them... Boots its newspaper inside if they decide to leak (some days my feet stay dry some days they dont ... My gear does keep me dry but it gets hung to dry to try and keep it dry inside and out... All tips appreciated I am slowly starting to smell must with all this damp LOL

The one that grates me when ever a motorbike is involved... "The police are looking for witnesses to the crash and any with information about how it was being ridden before the crash". How often do you hear that for cars? More to the point 50% of the cars will say I am riding to fast as I have filtered passed them or overtaken them at safe and appropriate moments so I would be going to quick...
-
My thought was similar... Is there another way round? Just cause you go one way in a car does not mean its the best way on a bike...

onesea replied to SAM98762008's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Now I am no motorbike epxert but one thing that has stood me in good stead on motorbikes was my time on pushbikes... If you have one dig it out and spend some time playing on it, you turns slaloms on and off kerbs, how slow can you ride? Not just riding down a road, ride one/ no handed but things that test your balance and you find difficult. IMHO the balance will improve your confidence and if you have a bike already its free... I would say do CBT then get 125 then ride that for a whilst then start on A2 but there are lots of options and I am no expert... -
I have 2 pairs of leaky boots thinking about trying some Sealskinz Socks... http://www.sealskinz.com/UK/socks/thin-mid-length-sock-albatross

I found of these http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/richa-wind- ... GwodjSACpg a lttile cheaper than that today (do not tell the misses). Will report back next time I am out in the rain...
-
Seriously there is no better solution . PS If thats the case some one must know a good way to dry VERY wet gloves...
-
OK Out today and I stayed mainly dry in the rain... My boots leaked (not to much of a concern my feet stayed warm... My gloves filled up! They are waterproof, the problem I put them inside my jacket I fill my sleeves with water. If I put them over the top even when moving water works its way down and my gloves start filling up... If there a known solution?

It has happened to me on a straight the van coming the other way over took 2 pushbikes. Once I was balanced on the edge of the road I raised my right arm to signal to the van driver. We where close enough that his natural reaction was to duck.... Prick no excuse on a straight road. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Pic ... 8a4ac336bd

Bloatware Viruses its stuff I don't want on my computer so I cannot see the difference Thanks for the tips I will try again on both computers, keep the advice coming. I am trying to get away from tech/ computers so not really intrested in building my own although a clean operating system install I know to be a very nice thing (did it to a couple of phones once). Yup and have to agree the elder generation are the worst for giving money for stuff on computers that you really do not need to spend... They love the big warnings etc the money must be worth spending don't you know!

First off I am thinking McAfee There are Removal tools and Even a Wiki on how to remove it... Which I shall quote "Removing McAfee can prove to be difficult, and may require more work than uninstalling your average program." I have removed Malicious unwanted software more easily than it is to Remove McAfee. http://www.wikihow.com/Uninstall-McAfee-Security-Center Plus to my mind McAfee prays on the week minded by bringing up big flash ups saying your secure or that you have cookies on your computer or that it blocked a cookie etc etc etc Presently I am using Windows Defender as it is the quietest Virus check I can find (I know its not the best), I used to use AVG then it started becoming memory/popup heavy... Other Software that falls into the same category: Norton Anti Virus is no better, HP Epson and other "essential" printer software, BT Software on PC or Phone / Tablet, Skype is Marginal but handy, It also wants to set your browser to Bing as search engine when you install watch for the tick box Facebook Apps rather than in browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader essential but what a PITA Always updating and producing Nag Screens, Oh and half the pre-installed Manufactures software that comes on phones and laptops.... Other than that my new laptop is fine Actually its a double grumble as my misses was complaining her laptop was going slow and she needed a new one.... She had a new printer so followed the instructions and installed the HP suite, she had installed the BT rubbish she had woken up a couple of pre-installed games packs. Quick run of CCLeaner and Malware anti bites uninstall all the junk - Oh my computers like new! Still had to explain to my misses you do not a software suite for your: phone, memory stick, printer, modem. They all want to give you this memory hogging stuff but all you need is the relevant driver and they tend to work better without that shit.... Or am I on my own in this rant?

I am going to Semi Nominate me and a Red car.... Railway crossing waiting for barriers bike filters to the front (would be fool not to), barriers went up. He also handled car trying to pull out in front of him (they always do there) without a stress, the Landrover following on the other hand decided the car was stopped and he could fit through the gap. The car carried on pulling out without looking, I hit the brakes a little harder than needed. Driver in Red car has horrified look on his face as landrover slides towards him... I stops in time car driver gives me abuse for not stopping to let him pull out in front of him, whilst holding up oth lanes of traffic whilst other traffic stops to let him in... Knob. I have had the same happen a number of times on the bike (to the point if I see its busy I no longer filter to the front, even though it saves ALLOT of time), that driver might think twice before pulling in front of accelerating traffic...

Just been told I well not be there. . Reason I have used my milage on my bike policy . The only way I can get more is to cancel policy and start afresh . I have made it very clear to them I am not happy, looking to gather information for to start a case against them.
