I use a Garmin SatNav but often plan the route on MRA and then download it to the Garmin.

Welcome, and isn’t it just awful when someone forces you to buy a bike, especially a ZZR1200.

Well done on the pass and the new bike.
yep, at this time of the year ice is a bout so you need to choose the time for a bike ride. -
I clean my visor and then always add nixwax. Then I find rain beads and turning my head it will blow away. At low seed you do need to wipe though.

My bike can't go over 30mph so even I wanted to get caught I can't go fast enough.
Don’t go to Wales then, 20mph limits in force.

I use E10 as the Suzuki is made to use it.
However on some older bikes and cars it is recommended to use E5. This is because the additional 5% ethanol in the E10 can damage some of the rubber, plastics etc that was used in older, classic vehicles.
The ethanol is also hygroscopic, this is why it is suggested to fill up with E5 to layup the vehicle for long periods as the fuel will absorb less water. -

So I normally use a Beeline. Which is great. But I’ve bought a new bike with thoughts of European touring. And I thought I could do with using a proper Sat Nav. Expensive for bike specific versions. Thinking that it’s a pity I couldn’t just use the basic one plugged in the car. Which has all maps for Western Europe installed I googled and discovered I could buy a waterproof case for my Sat nav with handlebar mount for not a lot. Made in China of course. I haven’t actually tried riding with this setup yet. But I fitted it and can’t see any problem. Maybe the bike will shake it to bits. We will see.
Possibly the touch screen will not work through the weatherproof front panel while wearing gloves.
Other than that should be ok. -

It probably sparked because something is still connected, an alarm or a clock for instance.

I’ve read more than once in reviews that good quality muff used in addition with heated grips mean you can wear gloves that are just a step up from full-on vented summer gloves. So gloves with fairly minimal insulation. Never tried them myself. One summer I got carried away in the sales and bought some rather glamorous winter gloves. With a very clever design feature, it has two ways of putting hands in. One you get maximum insulation. The other has almost all the insulation on the back of your hands and only a little in the palm - so you get more warmth from the grips. In the sale they were a tad under £200. I did slap myself (metaphorically) for spending so much on something I wouldn’t wear for months. But i am apt to such moments of madness. Sales. Keep me away from sales!!
Sounds the same as mine, HELD.
Warm pocket and a dry pocket. Tend to be used for most of my riding and my vented summer gloves the rest of the time.

Like @bonio optimate 4 had it 10+ years. Used to charge battery if it shows signs of struggling after a long layoff in the cold.

Yeh, but because I record the imobilliser he won’t be able to start it.
You could offer to help him fix it, for a fee.

When the knees would no longer allow me to easily ride my Kwak GPX750R I told MrsJRH it was time to get something smaller, lighter, more manageable and more economical. Came back with a bandit GSF1250.
and to answer @RideWithStyles, does anyone need a 1200+, no but it’s low reving, pulls like a train, is comfortable and can either be ridden like a big twist and go or use the gears and just gggooooooooo.
bit like the ZZR1200.
