I find the fowlers website useful when I need bits. They seem to suggest t10 bulbs https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/54 ... ic-x/meter I guessed the colour I don't think it matters... Stu they have t3s but they're quite pricey aren't they!! Sadly they don't sell a trip microswitch for a 125 intruder separately you have to buy the whole loom my workmate spends her lunch hour looking at the burberry website I look through this

Hi Stu When the revs went up it was audible not just on the dial. Starting from cold on the choke it will merrily tick over at about 1600 then suddenly shoot up to over 4000. Turning the choke down will reduce back to normal then shoot up again so choke down again. After a minute or so it will happily settle It's fine when I'm riding as I wait until it settles down but took the other half by surprise when he rode a while back! Stuck float is on my list to check bit not having indoor or lit work area it's a bit of a bugger to check in the wind and wet! Hoping the redex may help a bit. I've been told I have many problems

Update: Started fine today and behaved itself all the way to work. Stopped for fuel and put the first round of redex through. In traffic temp got up to 80, riding round it was between 67 - 74. I'm guessing it's going to be fine for ages then just randomly do it again at some point Maybe an electrical issue if it's intermittent?
  4. In mine I was told to "follow the road straight ahead" which involved changing lanes as the left lane went left only. I do appear to be the only person who has been given this instruction rather than follow the signs to somewhere! Also remember if you are following signs and you come to a roundabout if the signs say go right but you're in the left lane do not turn right - go the wrong way (either left or straight on) going the wrong way isn't a fail turning right from a left hand lane is! Good luck

So.. bike started fine today (no backfire) rode it the 2 mins to work area and ran it up to temp. Fans kick in at 103 and bring it quickly down to 98. Did this three times no issues. Everything else seems fine... which is annoying as hell as I'm no close to knowing what happened Think I'm going to have to take it to work Monday (will have other half behind in case anything happens) and keep an eye on the temp over a longer ride. Getting some redex tomorrow so will put that through
  7. Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of biking! I rode a 125 for almost two years before doing my DAS and for commuting to work it was great (only 10 mlies each way though). Fuel wise if you get a little honda they seem to run on air so you'll save a lot on fuel! I get about 120 miles from a tank (about 13-14 quid on the 600 compared to about 8 quid on the 125 intruder). Depends on road type too. Smaller roads you're not going to make up any time on a bigger bike but if there's an alternate route by motorway you may want to do a full test so you can use these (as obviously you can't on a cbt) I'd say it's always worth going for a full license so you have the choice but always good to get some experience first so you're confident with basic riding and gear changes (bad habits are easily beat out of you by instructors later ) and youre likely to make some mistakes but this way at speeds that are likely to be more forgiving. Lots of great gear reviews in the tried and tested bit further down.
  8. OOh fetch me my Grinch hat! I hate Christmas music. And Christmas in general, but sticking to the music. When I was 16/17 I worked in Tesco and they played the same sodding CD over and over and over and over again all day long from the beginning of November until the new year. We used to listen to Heart FM in this office but I went slightly postal last year when they started playing I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day in October so we listen to Radio 2 now.
  9. Does it work that if I have a Ninja and live in London the knob-ness cancels each other out? If I didn't need help with my stupid ninja I'd like so totally be flouncing right now
  10. ooooh I'm looking forward to taking part next year!
  11. This is literally the stupidest thing I have ever heard. And I have been on several London night buses laden with drunken hipsters.
  12. Ugh the model thing really disgusts me, we're in the 21st Century people! Yet there's only ever female models. Where are the scantily clad male models for us ladies to drool over???

Weather is looking ok tomorrow so I should be able to have a tinker. Going to run it first to ensure the fans are kicking on and cooling it down, check fan connections, thermostat, water pump etc Hopefully borrowing a voltmeter to check battery is ok, fuses, check wiring is all looking ok Time permitting I need to change the oil anyway and will look at replacing coolant (which I think is fine but...) I am keeping everything crossed that it is something simple that can be easily fixed and then we can go back to discussing the backfire issue
  14. Is this the beginning of the robot uprising? My last car had lights that came on when you pressed stuff and went off when you stopped pressing stuff
  15. You're lucky you've built up some points liking board games
  16. It functions for a small amount of time....
  17. Yup just the CBT which is valid for 2 years so if you didn't do your big test in that time you'd need to do it again
  18. Get him the lego batman tumbler. It's epic he'll love you forever
  19. I concur with all of the above Are there any other bikes on the road? Safety in numbers! You should also consider weather as if it gets really windy there is a small chance of the bike blowing over (especially a lighter 125)
  20. You can get ramps??? *adds to Christmas list*
  21. Good luck! You'll be fine just try and get rid of the test brain-fog!

Hey Stu Normal for the bike is high 80s. I'm not sure exactly what it got up to when it died but it felt noticeably hotter than normal. never heard the fans kick in on the move but they have kicked in once when I got home (bike didn't feel that hot so took me by surprise). Because I am a spoon I always have my display on clock not temp.... I'm really hoping it's just a cooling issue. @eastanglianbiker added to the list! Thanks
  23. Buy him one of these as a joke and get really excited as he opens it "ooh I hope it's the right one!" http://pad1.whstatic.com/images/thumb/0/01/Do-a-One-Finger-Board-Stand-on-a-Tech-Deck-Step-2.jpg/670px-Do-a-One-Finger-Board-Stand-on-a-Tech-Deck-Step-2.jpg The only sensible advice I can give is if you're taking him to the lesson next week try and talk to some of the people there
  24. I've fixed that for you
