1. Ahh I misread. I thought it was slapping while riding. If it only does it when not under load then it’s fine. Mine was slapping more and a bit crunchy sounding when it developed a nasty tight spot. If you can peer down while riding and it’s not bouncing around, I imagine it’s fine. The back wheel probably kicked something up while you were riding along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’m thinking that too now, thanks . I’m just paranoid .
2. The chain and sprockets are fine, just had a service and MOT and the fella has checked it thoroughly. Also checked it just now again myself to be sure, no stick links and wear seems pretty even currently. I’ve been told it could be normal and most bikes would do similar?
3. I had a quick ride out today and at one point it felt like I’d clipped a rock on the rear wheel, I was pretty sure I hadn’t so I stopped to check and everything seemed ok. Got home and had a better look and discovered the chain is ratting/slapping as shown in the video. The tension is fine sprockets and chain are ok, is it likely to be a transmission issue? In neutral the wheel spins freely, if I put it into gear and pull the clutch the wheel has some firm resistance. I’m not sure if that’s normal, don’t think it is. ">
4. As my bikes getting on a bit I change the oil every 6 months which is roughly 2000 Miles. I was doing the filter each time but I’ve recently been advised to do the filter yearly instead as they last at least 4000 Miles.
5. I see you have the same problem on both sides. Fat f**ker
6. 2004, and yes I think so. I can't help with the petrol bottle but I can offer some advice , I think it will be the same as mine then, so I don't think they have a fuel gauge but it does have a reserve gauge. When you see that reserve gauge you've got 15-20 miles (I've not pushed it any further ) to fill up. IT should be 4 bars that go down, the first one lasts about 10 miles and the last 3 go very quickly after that. When it's full the reserve gauge wont come on for about 130-140ish miles. Unless they changed how they do it after a certain year but the F4i was from around 2001-2006
7. What age is it, is the the fuel injection with digital clocks?
8. It's the new roundabout alongside the Redrock in Stockport, it was where you come off and go under the A6 . It's all been resurfaced, which it did need but it's a bit slippy now .
9. Me. For not respecting new road surfaces and a greasy morning, had a bit of a fish tail coming off a roundabout when putting the power on. Was fine and when it hit the power-band the back end just slid about . I take the same roundabout every day and always do the same coming off it as it goes under a bridge, but this was my first time on the new surface . Won't be doing it again. Good way to wake yourself up.
10. Mine has 3 of the tubes, coolant overflow, fuel overflow and a fuel vent. If it’s dripping fuel it’s probably becuase you filled it a bit too much or spilt a bit, especially as you’ve just filled it up and only just noticed it.
11. Whilst I’m not a fan, he’s an extremely talented individual and obviously alright at what he does .
12. I got an allyway next to my garden so we're getting a door installed there so I can bring it in the back over night. Yeah that sounds wise, I don't imagine with any amount of security it'll last very long in an alleyway unless you live in a really nice area . If it's living in the alley for a short while get a noisy disk lock, cover and a heavy chain. If you've got something you can chain it to, even better.
13. Where are you storing it? I assume you're after overnight security at home?
14. Just thought I'd poke Saddlebags tsurugi-ijin Glorian (Are you even alive? ) Just one out of courtesy for RantMachine
15. No because first time it would have been the drain plug I did think that, I was trying to work out why a different port was opened this time .
16. And to add to the above, if you're in the right gear you can set off again without putting your foot down if the lights change as you're approaching . Might end up with too much to do if you're just about to stop, light goes green and you're in 3rd.
17. Did this not pop out when you first did the oil change?
18. True, but then you might wheelie I miss pulling wheelies! The fjr is just too heavy I want to learn, but I don't want to throw my bike up the road
19. .. without enough throttle. If you pin it you almost certainly won't stall. But its about balance - more throttle and less clutch at the same time as you move off. True, but then you might wheelie
20. Stalling happens when you pull the clutch out too quickly usually. I also stalled a fair bit on my CBT because the old CG I had wouldn’t go into first gear so I was trying to set off in second a lot. You’ll get the hang of that with practice, just get used to rolling the bike on the clutch and you’ll get a feel for the biting point in no time.
21. M7 Nuts, hex heads etc are 11mm across flats, however M7 is a special thread anyway and you aint going to find that on anything at home
22. Enjoy it, the instructor will do the rest

chain problem

Yeah I wouldn't be too worried, I've seen them tested in R&D labs

chain problem

Nah, you can get the split links still for bigger bikes and they can be used. They're obviously not as good as a correctly riveted link, but they aren't just going to come off and they are safe for use.

chain problem

I think thats maybe 5 people who've said get a new chain and sprockets now
