Ok so they've not held your logbook, your log book is the V5. Sounds like they're not giving you a print-out of the service history as it includes customer details. You probably want to try get hold of a new service book and try get the old stamps re-done. That could be a task depending on how many services it's missing though . A good place to start would be taking their offer on the details they're willing to send over

Yep, price is reasonable and it's saying you'll be off a 125 and onto a 600 the same day as your CBT so not bad at all

IF that's on the centre stand and you've got no readings, it could be too low. Do the check with the dipstick mentioned above, I assume the reading you got on it there, is with it screwed in . You may need a touch more oil.

Sight glass is for the bike stood up and level, so assuming that's on a side stand - you won't see much .

seized link, 1800 on a CBF is probably right espcially if it's OEM.
Edit: Just had a quick google, that chains also quite a cheap one. In the range fo £14 for the bike and with something so cheap I wouldn't expect much more.

A few months ago I purchased my first motorcycle and have been buzzing around with my L plates with a giant grin on my face ever since.
However, when I purchased the bike from a Honda dealer, the salesman showed me the Log/maintenance book but said that he couldn't hand it over to me because of the GDPR and that it had past owners details in it. Naively, and as I'd never purchased a vehicle of any sort before, I just said 'OK' and off I went. The salesman said that when I go to sell the bike the prospective buyer can always come and see the log book to see the service history if needed.
It's only now thinking back on it and that it seems completely wrong. Who is going to want to visit a dealer to check the ervice history of a 2nd hand bike? Does this sound right to you? Should go back and get the log book from the dealer.
Sounds very wrong, unless some new law has come into effect. They sign it over to you so you can be the registered keeper, they or you should fill the details out for a new keeper and pop it in the post. Give them a call and speak to a manager or something, which Honda dealer was it?

My cut off for commuting is when it is not pitch dark in the mornings and the evenings when I leave. This week has finally seen not complete darkness at 5pm, so tomorrow may be a bike day
That's what I need to start doing, cause that's when I've found it's the most dangerous for commuting! It's like our headlights blend in with the cars, so filtering becomes especially lethal.

Get the license first then worry about the bike. When you get a bike get one from a reputable dealer who knows what they are doing. You risk voiding your way insurance going down the route you propose.
What's your reason for ignoring what he wants to do? The guy wants a bike to work on, plenty do that. All he wanted to know was about restricting the thing, this is not helpful. Maybe get help fitting a restrictor kit, but getting a bike to work on does no harm at all.
To OP the bike meets the requirements to be restricted, however I can't advice where you get the kits from I've never had to fit one. The 94 is defo 87bhp and the newer 96> is 76bhp as you've found.

Heat, sledge hammer and drift, industrial press.
If you heat the bearing it's gonna be more stuck, if you use a sledge hammer you're probably gonna damage the bore if it's cocked at any point.

Also worth noting chains 'bed in' and will rapidly elongate in the first few miles. So you have have had the correct tension set and now it's gone a bit slack.

I have removed it as in the last year I have had next to nothing off it so that just goes to show their prices aren't competitive!
I maybe looking at another company but it may be something like compare the market who pay per quote
I rang them up and quoted TMBF, their quote was more expensive than what I got from quoted by them on a compairson site . They didn't offer us any discount it seems.

Google for bike tyre shops near you, they're happy for you to pop in with a wheel and swap the tyre there and then for you. Or buy one yourself online and any motorbike garage should be able to carry out the work for you if you take in the loose wheel and new tyre.

The sticking switch is a simple fix, just a case of opening up the switch gear and lubricating the mechanism inside.

It'll be the original chain and sprocket set, adjust it to the correct tension. It's a simple task and loads of videos on YouTube, something everyone with a bike should be able to do.

chain tension seems to be fine, it would barely budge
too tight, as mentioned which can also cause a slap noise.

Personal opinion : Don't do it... it's a stupid place to be unless you're going dead slow and i meant a few mph at best, if you can't stop on a dime you're gonna have a bad time (a thank you very much). I'm never in such a rush i can't wait for a gap to appear on the outside where i can see and others can see me.
Professional opinion : I currently work in motor insurance and have a (reasonable) knowledge of how claims often go.. with this one i would refer to fagan v jeffers case where a motorcycle undertook stationary traffic and a car turned into a side road. this ended up 50/50.
You won't get much more than that in my opinion but i hope you get it all sorted and heal up soon, hopefully with a better appreciation of the hazards on the roads. on a side note i would recomend a bikesafe course to point out where you're going right/wrong with your riding.
