  1. NOW FIXED FOR 28-06-2009 AT WILLINGHAM WOODS 12-1PM CAR PARK PLEASE CHECK OUT YOU OWN RIDEOUT SECTION FOR ANY DETAILS OF MEETS TO RIDE IN Roll up! Roll up! I'm sure you've all seen posts from Mikey's mum Lori on his passion for two wheels, so here's your chance to meet the man himself. We'd like to take the opportunity to raise some cash for Mikey's hospice too, as Lori's said how fab they are at giving care to Mikey and giving Lori some time to herself. I'm sure we all appreciate that hospices can really make the difference to the lives of the people who use them. In order to do this, it would be great if everyone who comes on the ride can contribute £5. If you'd still like to contribute but can't make the ride then you still can by using the site 'donate' button, and putting a message in that the donation is for Mikey's Meet. It is not compulsory to make the donation in order to attend the ride! The purpose of the meet is to make Mikey smile with lots of bikes arriving just for him. Lori has said dates are easy over the next few weeks so I've bunged a poll up. Please select all of the days that you can make (you can select up to 7 dates). If all of the dates are ok then please select, "all of these dates are fine for me". Whichever day has the greatest number of potential attendees will be the meet. I have stuck to weekend days. Fleat's got Mikey a mini basil brush and we will be handing over a hoody for Mikey as a gift too. Any questions, please PM me or post here. EDIT: Willingham Woods, meet between 12 and 1pm in the car park. poll removed, fixed date added (rennie)
  2. Why didn't I book today off? Why? Why? Oh why? Thanks again for opening up your house to everyone Akey, the sofa was much appreciated
  3. I'm home! I've never spent so long so wet! Dan, TheWife and I got drenched on the way up on Friday during the last 20ish miles, then the showers this morning turned into heavy rain as soon as everyone got their gear on to go home. I was soaked to the skin again within 5 miles and pretty much tried to grin and bear it. I accidently turned off onto the A42 (could barely see and couldn't work out why Dan and TheWife had their indicators on, d'oh!) but found my way back to the M1 where I realised it had stopped raining. Had a quick 'comfort' break (although I'm sure I was less comfortable afterwards) then did the cleverest thing I have ever done. I pulled out my dry gloves from my bag to swap for the sopping wet ones I had on. The last 50 miles got progressively brighter, drier, then sunnier. By the time I got home to MK there were people wandering about with t-shirts and shorts on! Had a brilliant weekend and we managed a really nice ride out. Was really good to finally meet Vicki and Willow, Akey, Keithg24, Sheepy, Scat and Techno. Willow, thank you thank you thank you for your magnificent provision of food and bevs, as well as lots of laughs. Can't wait for MFN now! My videos of the Malteser slalom and bouncy castle olympics will be hitting a youtube near you as soon as my phone dries out and lets me use it again
  4. A couple of hours?! What are you doing in there? Can't wait for Friday!
  5. Lovely photos, great to read all about it. Hope the next couple of days are as good for you.
  6. Wow! Fab stuff Steve! Good to see the weather's keeping for you and you're enjoying it so much. Photos are really good, very scenic. Can't blame you for wanting to stop every 5 mins for a photo.
  7. I'm so sorry mate, if I'd have known you were going then I would have bunged you my number. Steve (Korben) arrived shortly after and he's stickered up. I was sat on me tod on one of the round benches near the cafe door in a pale cream top. Think it might become a regular haunt so next time!
  8. I did that! Two day course and left with a certificate and I did get a reduction in my insurance. Taught me more about road positioning, using the width of the road, advanced techniques for manoeuvring as well as counter-steering. Would recommend, particularly as I had only been riding for 3 or 4 months when I did it and it really helped my confidence.
  9. Very good! I'm planning to get there for 12ish an no hurries required. Sounds like Dan and TheWife are coming too. Have a good ride over!
  10. Hi, not sure where to put this so I'm going to put it in Cambs and East Anglia and Midlands and Lincs. I was up at Rutland Water the other weekend (in the car with the dog) and it's abslutely stunning on a nice day. Lots of bikers up there when I was there and plenty of cafes, teas, coffees, ice creams etc. so wondered if anyone fancied a meet there? I'd suggest the south shore carpark as a meeting place, its East of Edith Weston before you get to Normanton. Cars are charged £3 to park, but I think bikes are free. Aerial view of the car park I'm on about is here. Overview map is here. 12noon for a cuppa and a chinwag anyone?

  12. Found this on another forum... thought it might be worth a ride although it's a while away yet.
  13. I'm only 5'10" but my legs are quite long and I'm paranoid about wearing clothes that are too short because it just looks stupid. Getting clothes in general isn't as much of a problem these days, but there doesn't seem to be much info on leg lengths. The trousers I do have ride up to the top of my boots when I'm on the bike already!
  14. Ah... the other side of the coin! Agree with the paypal thing too.
  15. I've got those, they're great. I paid around £110 off of fleabay for a used pair that someone had never worn, they came with tags on etc. Can't fault them, very comfy and quality good. The adjustable bits are a real advantage.
  16. A decent ladies range! with info on leg length..! My inside leg is 35" and I can not find trousers long enough. Using men's just isn't good enough as the waist is all wrong and is exacerbated when you're actually gripping the handlebars. HG only do tiny bird gear... Anyway, info on delivery costs, option to collect/drop off, contact info for queries... can't think of anything else atm!
  17. Me neither! I hang my jacket on a door hook in my hallway, the helmet (gloves, buff inside) and boots go in the cupboard under the stairs (on the floor at the moment as I'd been planning on getting a shelf in there) and my trousers either lie on the back of the chair in the living room or find their way upstairs to go into the bottom of the wardrobe in my spare room. Kind of all over the place really. Glad someone asked! Might get one. Gem, could you do me a favour and tell me what the size roughly is so I can see if it'll fit under me stairs (bit tight under there!).
  18. Keep forgetting to post, but I'll be staying over too. Whatever Dan and the TheWife are doing as he's lending me a tent! Dan, you are still lending me a tent, right?
  19. I might be out... depends on weather which is looking good so far, no rain forecast.
  20. lurve that lid MK... very nice.. not seen it in yellow before!
  21. Neil, do you have a spare ticket still? I'll have it off your hands if it is.
  22. Hi Josh, I'll be riding up from MK to Dan's (to collect a tent), then onto MFN, so you could come across to me if that's any use? I could meet you somewhere or I can give you my address. Yet to confirm leaving times, but will be mid-afternoon I would have thought. I've never been to MFN, but I think Dan has.
