  1. Ok , so if that is what's going on it , what is coming off it ? I'm delighted if that is , in fact , a stage one filter and housing but I can't imagine what a standard one must look like . I await an update with baited breath .
  2. Why would you go around pissing in people's Hot Tubs ?
  3. Pretty sure it will look like this .
  4. Here you go . A Stage One filter kit looks like this . This particular one is Arlen Ness but the Screaming Eagle one is much the same . You have the option of fitting the black finishing disk , an aftermarket circular cover or the original chrome cover although that is asking rather a lot of a single bolt . Mine has the original back plate with the little air scoop which , in combination with the chrome cover , effectively forms an airbox .
  5. Nah , I'm pretty sure I've got a standard backplate and filter but I'll do a bit more digging .
  6. That's brilliant news ! I just assumed that because the filter is still in an air box it was still untuned . I thought that a different backplate needed to be fitted so that even though the original chrome cover remains , the filter is exposed all round . But that's just because of how my Sportster was set up . As I've said , it runs great . The only time it let me down was when I went for a rather over exuberant overtake and I hit the rev limiter mid way through . What pipes are on your new one ?
  7. Cheers Ian . I can't say that I find mine lacking at all but it's only my second Harley so I really don't have a benchmark . Still can't get the battery out by the way . That screw is wearing out cobalt drill bits . God knows what it's made out of . I'll have another go at it at the weekend .
  8. What does the difference feel like with the Stage One tune ?
  9. What ? I got caught out after dark and could hardly see a thing ! Took me ages to get home wobbling around at 40mph . That said , I haven't ridden in real darkness for years .
  10. Ian , if you don't like the pull back risers I'll gladly do you a swap .
  11. So you finished it then . Looks great . I've still got mine . Just can't get round to selling it . Somewhere in the back of my mind lurks the crazy notion to go touring the outer Hebrides on it because I don't fancy the idea of taking the precious Harley on the ferries . There's a lot of back to basics fun to be had coaxing the maximum performance from a smaller bike .
  12. Nothing wrong with Tokico 6 pots if they are properly maintained . But yes , they are a pain in the arse .
  13. I was about to agree with this then I noticed that I wrote it .
  14. 'Kin 'ell ! That's fantastic . We've definitely got to have a meet up next summer . Beautiful bike and it's the same engine size too . What a find .
  15. I wouldn't let my neighbour anywhere near my bike . What an odd reply . Solve a problem by giving it to someone else ? Not my style .
  16. So I got togged up for a quick ride around the lanes on this very pleasant Sunday afternoon and Ker Chunck , Ker Chunck , click click click .....F**k all ! Dead as a door nail . This is probably the battery terminals rather than the battery but I won't know for now because the single screw that holds the battery cover is already chewed up beyond practical use . Spent the last hour modifying screwdrivers with a Dremel but to no avail . I haven't worked out what to do yet because it's not accessible to any tools . Not a great end to the season .
  17. All in all not a bad biking summer considering I was still recovering from broken ribs and associated ailments . The highlights were touring Scotland in a week of perfect weather and taking part in Coventry Motofest . Apart from a broken throttle cable , all I did to the bike was put petrol in it and polish it . What's every one else been up to ?

    Moths .

Sounds like they are everywhere then .
  19. fastbob

    Moths .

Well I've been riding for a year or two but never have I seen anything like this before . My helmet and the front of the bike are plastered in tiny white smudges that suggests I have been bombarded by tiny moths . Either I rode through a swarm of these things or they are everywhere . Weird or what ?
  20. Ahh , thanks everyone . I must try to be more active on here but the lure of Facebook is strong .
  21. Rubbish weather ? We're in a heatwave in Coventry .
  22. How did you know I was at the Shuttleworth Collection ?
  23. Well I think Ian guessed it . It's a Bond . Same company that made various three wheelers including the Bond Bug .
  24. When you think you have seen everything and then you happen upon this curiosity . Anyone want to guess the make ?
