  1. Why bother M8. Just wait till your next accident and see if you can still feed yourself if you wake up.
  2. 3 ml Half a teaspoon How times change. Does it not just need torquing down

    Breakdown...

Check both your battery connections. Old 'uns have been known to snap on speed bumps.
  5. It can be caused by a worn box or a too thin oil selection or the oil is hot from thrashing it. The Virago has one between every gear. Be gentle when you find one. Let your revs drop and change up. You can change down twice when you've got back into toothed territory
  6. Some polish and lacquer the stanchion but it's only a temporary solution. The higher price you were quoted may have included a re chrome, which is the only long term solution. Wipe the stanchion every time you leave the bike. A squished fly's guts will digest the chrome and they are surprisingly sharp when dried on and can damage the seal as they pass through it.
  7. Your tech has probably checked but wheel bearings may have play/ be worn. Sounds like previous owner liked wheelies.
  8. Try a different brands. Different manufacturers have slightly different fittings. AGV and Vemar fit my dome best. Take some one with you who has experience and try lots on. Some sales staff are notoriously commission driven and will give your inexperience an expensive fit up.
  9. After the first time you get your leathers wet they fit a lot better. I buy them loose and eat into them.
  10. Inner throttle cable may be damaged causing it to bind.

  12. Eat oily fish and get a cruiser
  13. Leather is never totally waterproof but it's resistance to water penetration can be enhanced by oiling with castor oil or spraying with a proprietory leather proofer (makes em squeak and creak tho) or waxing. Saddle soap helps too. Eventually the rain will get through and you will find out the quality of the dye used by your legs and arms
  14. Never had a problem wearing specs. Prefer them to contacts on the bike. They act as a second line of defence for the eye if you have to raise the visor. An eye full of grit or dust or a midge in the eye wearing contacts is not pleasant. I choose my specs bearing in mind I wear a helmet. I find the very small ones let too much air turbulence into the eye and the new fashioned thick armed frames obscure peripheral vision.
  15. My latest Veemar helmet cost £60. Full face. Tricomposite compound. Quiet at speed. A perfect fit and a good safety rating. Don't get mixed up with a good helmet and an exclusive paint job. Race replicas usually cost a lot more. Try lots on, make sure they fit. Only use an open face if you're not bothered about the way your face looks after a minor spill.
  16. Your helmet is a vital piece of safety equipment. If it doesn't fit it is useless or worse. Hitting yourself on the head with a hammer will give you a headache too. Much cheaper. Never mind it will make a nice ornament when you replace it for one that fits
  17. Bear in mind that your helmet is vital safety equipment first and a fashion statement second. How cool will you look with brain damage or worse.
  18. Take the indicators off for the mot.
  19. It 'll be the tyre. If it's old enough to have started cracking it's way past its sell by date. Unlike car tyres a bike tyre can have legal tread on it but give poor performance due to the wear pattern changing the profile. I wouldn't ride a bike with perished tyres. I'd be getting some new ones. Pronto
  20. Sounds like its running a tad rich.

    Redex

It's been going since adam was a lad. I don't think it would still be on the market if it didn't work. Follow the instructions
  22. Is this a disguised look what I've bought thread. You're bustedhttp://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z28/Colin_the_bear/coffee.gif
