  1. It helps protect the edge from chipping and alledgedly stops it cutting you in half should it land on you in a spill. Having said that I never bother. Looks fine without.
  2. http://www.bike-breakers.info/ Swarth fillings? Is that the recipe for a dark pie?
  3. And don't put the spare on the same key ring
  4. Replacing the brushes is always worth a try. You can make some out of an over sized pair with a Swiss file and a little patience. Clean and polish the commutator too. Check the motor over with a multi meter if anything looks burned.

  7. http://www.silvermans.co.uk/Products/ta ... fault.aspx Helmets are rated by a labeling system. Used to be silver and gold for racing standard. The helmet is the most important piece of kit. The price is irrelevant in my opinion. High price helmets are a fashion statement and you pay for the paint job. Get the highest spec, that fits snugly and comfortably ,that you can afford. Mine cost me £60. Plain black. Highway code recommends white I like leather but make your own mind up.

  9. Better than WD40 for that application would be a squirt of silicone grease down the key hole. Autosol and a cheap electric tooth brush will bring the shine back to metal. Tcut on a damp cloth for paintwork.
  10. Might be an electrical fault, which can be a ****** to find.
  11. the dreaded broken wire
  12. Could be fuel starvation due to a vacuum forming in the fuel tank. When it does it, remove the fuel filler cap. If it goes away you have a blocked fuel tank breather. You'll feel/hear the inrush of air as you open the filler cap.
  13. Could be poor spark. Carbs might want balancing and the mixture adjusting
  14. Travel light. Spare knickers and a bar of soap. (Soap is for washing knickers.) Or Toothbrush and credit card. Biker wisdom says you can't get everything you want into panniers but you can get everything you need
  15. Right. Side stand end will be a switch full of weather
  16. Yes lets keep the helmet on till you're fully recovered.
  17. Relay? Is it not just a switch?
  18. The chain tightens as the suspension is compressed. The recommended is half an inch 12/13mm up and down ,at a point half way between the sprockets with the bike on the stand. I suspect an inch when compressed is too much. Get a better manual. Is your bike listed here? http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp
  19. A rucksack raises your centre of gravity. It also puts strain on the rider and is a movable weight. Have a look at throw over panniers to compliment your tail pack and a tank bag to balance the load on the bike. Much more stable and less tiring than a rucksack.
  20. Helmet Removal system. PSSSSSSSST........AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! .........undo the chinstrap........ffffftttt........look at it go
  21. The switch is an easy by pass and not too expensive to replace. A good clean may well sort it. Be very aware when riding with a bypass in place. These switches were fitted for a reason. The first left hander you take with the side stand down will spit you off.
  22. Get a scooter and carry a spare wheel
  23. Exhausts have a small drain hole. This allows moisture from cold start up, that condenses in the muffler, to drain away. Best not to get detergent when washing up the exhaust as this will speed up internal corrosion. The 650 bandit is water cooled. The white scum ontop of the oil may be an indication of a failing cylinder head gasket. The coolant mixing with the engine oil to form an emulsion or scum on the surface. Remove the oil filler cap and see if there's any scum there. At 6months old it will be under warranty. Pop down to your dealer and get it checked out.
  24. dont you mean the terminator or a power ranger, transformers are autobots/decepticons, ROBOTS.. No I think he meant Transformers, obviously! http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/ae248/peteblakemore/prime.jpg?t=1247784172 Not very bright these robots. He's got his boots on the wrong way round
  25. I think they trade on paranoia and fear. What if??? Most tyre deflation happens slowly. I watched a guy at a stunt show burn out the back tyre till it burst then do wheelies on it. A puncture is more annoying than dangerous in my experience.
