  1. Just to confirm the vanity behind the question, it's because I'm trying to get away wearing work shirts under my bike gear to save getting changed at the office, and it's only the braces creasing my shirt which are undermining my efforts! Will definitely zip together if ditching the braces though.
  2. This is not a "hobby", it is a "necessary and affordable means of getting to work", and I'll thank you all to never say otherwise to my wife.

  5. Lat's silly question of the day: Are the shoulder straps on my textile jeans just for comfort, or are they important for keeping the jeans in place in the event of an off? There is a full length zip for attaching them to the jacket too, which I've never bothered with, so should I use at least of the two options or can I just ditch the straps and not bother attaching the two parts? I gather that most track days require a one piece suit, or tops and bottoms which zip together at the very least, so should the same apply for normal riding?

  7. Looks great. I'm always impressed by people with actual drawing skills.

  9. In all seriousness, what about the polystyrene inside the helmet? That's the first bit too go - I thought the purpose of the outer shell is primarily to hold the inside together enough to absorb what it can of the impact, with other bits failing afterwards, all so that it's your head which fails last of all.
  10. Ha. Why does that sound so familiar Slightly amended Anchorman quote? That's the badger. Or rather, that's the Sex Panther.
  11. He came off his ZX6R, trying to jump onto the gixxer, whilst both were doing 150 MPH on the M6. Missed the jump, bounced the helmet off the motorway but managed to jump back on the CBR. The reason he didn't make the jump is that he high-fived an eagle, which had swerved into his course to avoid the lightning bolt which hit his ZX6R and triggered the whole thing in the first place.
  12. I've always been a fan of homeopathic repairs myself: take one speck of whatever surface you dropped the helmet onto, place carefully into one Olympic swimming-pool of water then, using a spray gun, take a sample from the pool and lightly mist the diluted solution around the damaged area of the helmet. 0% of the time, it works every time.
  13. I'd suggest one answer might be: whichever ones fit properly. No substitute for going to a shop and trying different pairs on, and just focus on the thick winter ones if that's the priority. Goretex might be worth considering if waterproofness is important too, but it will probably bump up the price.
  14. Hi take a look at this , pictures 3&4 http://www.bikersoracle.com/cbr600/forum/showthread.php?t=18456 Excellent googling that man. Thanks!
  15. It stings a bit! It can bee , so hive heard If you carry on filling the thread with these puns, people will really have to comb through for the useful information.
  16. I think I'm pretty keen on getting a gear indicator, at least while I'm starting out. This one looks good and claims to be plug and play with my CBF600S, and is less than £40 delivered. I've looked through the workshop manual for my bike (thanks Spanner!) and seen a few diagrams showing the DLC/data connector, but can't figure out if it needs any fairing removing to access it. Anyone happen to know? Don't want to inadvertantly take on a much bigger job than "plug and play” sounds!
  17. If you're only in day two, I wouldn't get too caught up on clutch control as it's something that only comes with time on the bike. If you're doing the slalom, figure of 8 and high speed mod 1 manoeuvres then you're clearly progressing. I nearly put a foot down on the u-turn in my mod 1, but gave it a little more power and let the bike take me round. Trick is to look where you want to end up, and don't even glance at the white line anywhere else, or that's where you'll go! Good luck, and try to enjoy the process!

    Dead Bike!

Great that it's working, but you shouldn't let the dealer get away with a thing on a new bike.
  19. Recommended brand? ...and also do you just coat the bike from below the handlebars, or do you have to be selective with brakes, chain etc?
  20. Oh yes, good point. Might stick with the exhaust uncovered for now then!
  21. Haven't washed mine yet either, but it's getting somewhat mucky already. Slightly bemused how the top of the hugger is so dirty in particular!
  22. Cover is working out well so far, and mine has a strap to clip under the bike too. However, just wondering if you've ever had an issue putting it straight on after a ride? Has a supposedly heat-resistant panel where the exhaust is, but given that it sizzled when I put it on the other night I've left it tucked up on the pillion footrest since!
